What's your favourite small speaker next to your computer?

Let's hear what your favorite small (quality?) speaker is for next to your computer.

I've tried the Wharedale denton 80th Anniversary and they had too much bass.

At present I am using the AVI Neutron III (about 21 years old - were at the time sold as a cheaper version tot he LS3/5A). Thinking about replacing with the ProAc Tablette 10.

So what are you using and what are the advantages / shortcomings?

I have been using a pair of Mission 70's for years, and they satisfy completely. Before that, I used a Proton 300/301 combo.
 
Some years ago, i went to a large surface electronics store, which had a ''switch board'' to compare a bunch of puter speaker systems. Out of all of them was this middle of the bunch in price and subwoofer size, Altec Lansing VS4121 set
that was running circles around all others. I mean no comparison at all. The 2 sattellites and, the subwoofer were so superior to everything they had.

The sub. has a 6.5inch driver and a front port. The 2 satellites, have a down firing 2 or 3 inch mid, that sounds fabulous (omni-directionnal), and 2 dome tweeters per sides. I still enjoy this system a lot!.

An AWESOME purchase i done. Now, i know that Altec Lansing is not what they used to be but if they now want to sell cheap crap, they made a HUGE mistake in engineering department designing these!!!:D.
 
My bedroom system has smaller speakers than the computer in the living room. My bedroom has a pair of JBL L36s topped by a pair of DCM TimeFrame 400s. My living room has Klipsch Quartets topped with DCM TimeFrame 600s. Sorry, but that is the smallest I have. ;) :D

I've tried quite a few and my favorite so far is my pair of JR149. Their ability to throw a wide sound stage in near field is impressive and they're a pleasure to listen to in other respects too. Shortcomings are low sensitivity/volume which is minor in this setting and perhaps being a bit polite for some genres, easily solved by having a different pair of speakers on the 'B' switch!

The interaction of the bass with the room does seem critical in my scenario (very close to wall) and it is sometimes surprising which speakers work well and which don't. I know there are gains to be had by mounting my speakers better rather than having them sitting on a desk, but without a huge amount of effort it is always going to be a compromised situation. The other thing is a non-fatiguing sound, if you're listening for extended periods like I am currently.
 
Klh 3 with computer or Klh4 without computer excellent build quality and fantastic hardly ever found anywhere. Also like Radian Research bookshelf speakers.
 
I like my ADS 400e speakers a lot. Mine are in white and have the metal grills, very attractive. Though maybe a bit big for a desktop. For me, it is mostly for the midrange which ADS seems to be famous for. Right now, they are connected to an old Sony VFET amplifier, which seems to make almost every speaker sound better, especially these.
 
The majority of my listening is via computer. Have tried Minimus-7 which were fine. Have tried B&W DM550s which were fine but too big for the available space. Tried some Philips and one or two others I cannot remember. Current set-up is by far the best of those I've tried: Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble I sats to the left and right of the monitor. And then via a speaker selector switch, a pair of Onkyo D-N5TX directly on both sides of where I sit. One of those is on a wooden bookcase and the other is on a metal bookcase. A small sub is under my computer hutch, near my feet. Still hunting for some other small guys to try (Canton, NHT, etc.) at a reasonable price. But perfectly content now.
 
I have three different systems at two different locations. All being driven by older Pioneer Dolby Digital receivers. Bedroom desktop is Canton Plus S satellites with Plus C subwoofer (being amped separately by the rear channel of the Pioneer). Office system is NHT SuperZeros with the subwoofer from the Infinity Infinitesimal micro system (also being amped by the Pioneer rear channel). Apartment system is SuperZeros with an active Yamaha servo sub. I've also used the Infinitesimal micro satellites and Optimus LX4s as mains, but after comparing, I prefer the superzeros.
 
Audioengine 2A+. Tiny, inexpensive and clear with a surprising amount of bass.
 
My computer speakers are a pair of Paradigm Atoms I refoamed a few years ago and they are powered by a Pioneer SX-680. The combo don't sound bad, I also have TT, CD, and cassette decks hooked up. I also have a pair of cheap Hitachi speakers screwed to the underside of the front bay window so I have tunes when I'm out front splitting firewood
