Which Dual?

Hello Everyone!
I have to make a choice, I have a chance to get three Dual turntables. But I can only keep one. All of them work but could use a good going through. They are: a 1015, 1216 or 1242. I know none of these are top of the line tables. Which one would you choose and why? Thanks!

I own a 1242. I don't have any experience with the other turntables. I suspect if you got the 1242 in good working condition, you'd be happy with it. It's quiet, has a great tonearm...
 
All 3 of these are fully automatic. Have you checked to see that all functions work correctly?
 
The 1242 is probably the simpler of the bunch. And as Poinzy said, it will sound nice and quiet.

One piece of advice: If you buy a new belt for it, avoid the urge to buy the cheap ones on the 'Bay. Go with a better belt from Vintage-Electronics.net. Those cheap belts don't get along well with the 33/45 selector switch.
 
Well, you go 2 different routes.

You can get them all if the price is right, re-sell the 2 you don't want once you've cleaned and lubed, make your money back and possibly have the one you keep for close to free (or better).

Or, pick the one you like best and go with it.

I could actually get all 3... Hmmm... Hi*ball you are a genius! I guess I can hide them by mixing them in with all my other stuff so the wife won't notice! Lol!
 
I just left the gentleman with the 1242... The arm wouldn't drop in the right place. The Steuerpimpel is gone! So... He gave it to me for the grand total of FREE!!! :banana:

There you go! You're already ahead.

You could just tune this one up and be good. Download the manual from The Vinyl Engine for free.
That cart that is on there may actually be good and you can just find a new stylus.
 
Free is good. Not real familiar with 1242s. Belt drive Dual's are new territory here. Got a 601 to study belt drive. Needs a steurepimple. Sounds pretty good. Have several customer turntables ahead of it though. You should do the usual stuff Dual's need. Get rid of the old grease, clean and lube the motor. Once gone over you should have years of trouble free use. Have fun!

If you can get the 1015 cheap get it. I have fixed up several. My friend at the local record got one. They used several month as the store turntable. Kind of regretted letting it go but I have five Dual turntables, all hooked up. Have no place to go. I look at those as a poor mans 1019...

There are no replacement stylus for the Micro Acoustic cartridges!
I really liked my 2002e, but I let it go when I sold the 312.
