Stereo fisher, I got the 1015 for $20! With all of the spindles (33 single play, stacker, 45 stacker and a DUAL branded 45 adapter) But... No dust cover and, I think it's called a, "Muting Bridge" has been disassembled. All of the parts are in a baggie, I just need to figure out where everything goes!

I have a 1015 that I pulled from an HH Scott console. It is very similar to the 1009F that I used to own except for the counter weight design. I actually like the counter weight on the 1015 as it locks in place after you balance the arm. There should be a Dual 1015 manual on Vinylengine,

Good score!! The 45 stacker is extremely rare. I got mine with a 1015 too! Worth $75 on eBay. Used it on my 1010S. Don't have many 45s, but it's fun to stack them!

I have a Dual 1228 that really needs a complete service. I have already made a heavy sandwitch plywood plinth for it and a have a Shure V15 IV with a new Jico SAS stylus. What I want to know is do you think it worth sending it off to FixMyDual for $150 to get it tuned and completely serviced?
Also, what do you think about the choice of cartridge?
A little background - I have about 20 TT's from a Garrard AT60 to a Rega Plannar 25, Empires, Piomeers and Elacs. I don't mind having another one. Some are obviously better than others but I enjoy them all. I prefer idler and belt drive. I usually repair them myseld and even learned how to service a Garrard. But I just don't feel like learning to service a Dual. So - what do you think? I'd appreciate some opinions, serious or even, not so serious.

If the decision has not been made, I would recommend the 1015. It is - in my opinion - the mechanical most robust, yet the oldest one of the three.
If it runs smooth and without issues, take it. With a Shure M44G it is like a Gibson ES335 - made for rock&roll.
The 1216 is very similar to the 1015/1019; pretty the same construction underneath, the main differences are the slimlined tonarm and the facelift in the design.
The 1242 is of a completely different kind; belt-driven, quite rare over here in europe. It is also a changer, but with a longer tonearm and maybe a little in front in respect to the measured data like rumble or wow&flutter.
The 1216&1242 have the advantage of an adjustable vertical tracking angle; as with almost all changers from Dual, the tonarm base is too high installed for single-record operations. The "error" is roughly 4°. With the right "headshell" you can correct this; it was sold with the 1218 onwards, and should be installed on the 1242.

Well, for 150 bucks you don't get the quality of construction anymore. On the other side there are few issues that aren't DIY on a Dual, if you want to invest the time and aren't all thumbs.
The Shure - I haven't heard it on a 1228, and it wouldn't be my first choice. But it's a nice cart, and as you have it - just try it...
