I can see how someone migh prefer the Ortofon 2M Red over the Grado, I might even agree..
But going on & on about how the Grado is utter garbage is nonsense..

Actually....now that I recall I did hear a Grado on another turntable....I think it might have been a Dual table and remember thinking it sounded very nice even on one of the lower end Dual tables. So now I am questioning if it was a Grado on the Thorens TD-147, maybe it was something else. It's been awhile since the cartridge has been changed out on that TD-147. I may have the cartridge that was removed, I'll look for it and see if I can find it. I usually keep all that stuff. I might have to eat crow if I find it.....

But if I screwed up I will post here that I did screw up

If you say a Grado is harsh and ear bleeding highs, then no I dont believe you have heard one as this is totally the opposite of how a Grado sounds.
Even worn out bottom of the range black is not thin and harsh.
I can believe someone especially the older ones finds Grado too rolled off or too lush and sweet ( some like this some dont) but no Grado has every been described as thin harsh or ear bleeding so no I dont think you have heard one.
A 2m red is harsh, a Grado is not, thry are anything but.

Hello there,
I do have a new Rega P2 with a Rega Preamp (mm)... Of course de Carbon is not what I'm looking for at all.
I do listen the 70's & 80's... I do like clarity and the bass.
What you recommend?
