Which Sansui integrated to try?

Good news. Obviously, one would think you could just assume it worked. But I've heard stories of sellers responding that "I never said it worked" after they sell something that doesn't without divulging it.

bigerik is correct that this amp sounds best when the bias and offset are properly set, and most techs will not be up to this task. But either of us can provide contact info for the AU-D11 II guru, who could do this for you.
Well, I guess my $0.02 worth is a bit late, but what the heck....
Full disclosure: I bought my AU-7900 totally on looks. Well, maybe not "totally"; I was aware that it had a great reputation. But the Big Silver Knob and the knife blade switches just did it for me.
Bonus: it sounds great.

Comparing AU-G33X (or AU-G55X) with AU-X501 - there is a difference in sound quality or not? The schematic diagrams of AU-G55X and AU-X501 are similar to each other.

i dont know anything about the AU-G33X or 55X but i sure do love my AU-X501!
anyone else have one of these? what are your thoughts?

I have owned an AU=X501 for 27 years now and it is still better than amps costing well over $6000 today. I have auditioned many amplifiers at home and none of them so far has out-performed my Sansui. That includes amps such as Classe, Sim Moon, VTL, Rotel, Bryston, Carver Sunfire and more. I also own an AU-X711 and it is currently driving my Martin Logan CLS IIz with a REL subwoofer. The CLS's have a bad reputation as a very difficult speaker to drive, at times dropping down to 1 ohm. My Sansui's have exceeded my every expectation. It's just too bad they don't make these amps anymore, because todays audiophile amplifiers can't hold a candle to yesterday's Sansui.

That's exactly my thinking. I mean, these amps aren't magic, they are designed already. Seeing the Chinese own Sansui now, why couldn't they just reproduce, for example, an AU-717 (a proven work horse) or an AU-X501/701/901 or any strong, excellent sounding, well proven Sansui designed amplifier? I know it would be expensive to produce but it would be worth it.
The only things I can figure out are:
1. There are 'lost technologies' even in the simplest of the quality componets. The old technologies retired with the old timers.
2. They figure that there just isn't any market for quality amplifiers.
3. They just don't really care anyway. Just put out the junk, and make maximium profits, as fast as they can immediately to the masses, without any type of R&D what-so-ever.
4. or Maybe they just can't handle it right now in China, to be able or capable of making the quality componets, which may be the case.
5. or Maybe they 'will never' be able to handle that type of quality of componets (or even have the desire to ever do so) just keep pushing the cheap junk to the massive world markets using the Sansui name and other name brand names they have aquired. Push the junk out, make massive money, 'don't-service-anything', then make more massive amounts of junk and slap a name brand on it...which they are doing.
I know it's only the name 'Sansui', which is now only an umbrella company not making anything of their own, but they have the 'rights'. And to let that go to waste. Maybe they threw out all the old data and old technology? That's happen before right here in the good ole USA...
Like when whoever it was (CBS comes to mind) bought Fender and they threw out all that old information, old blueprints, old technology, and 'old dyes', redesigned everything and we all know how that ended up. When the employees bought the company back from them, in 1979 or 1980 they couldn't even make a guitar. That is VERY TRUE. That's how bad they messed Fender up. Fender had to contract Japan to make them for the first 2-3 years. Japan was already making perfect 'copies' of the old Fenders. Used to have one of those that Fender licensed to Japan - a 1980 Fender contracted Japanese brown sunburst Strat. It was 'fine' and in MINT shape. Sold it, it was a $ offer I just couldn't refuse and I have other guitars anyway. But it was really super nice! Kinda regret that sale really...but it's ok, sold it to a good friend that really wanted it bad. It was a fine instrument.
Anyway, I everyone knows what's goin on with Sansui China. Have a major international brand name everyone knows and trusts, make money with that name, anyway you can, as fast as you can. Put the name on anything as long as they pay you to use the name. But why they don't contract out the old Sansui amp designs to some major stereo amplifier manufacture? Minimum R&D, just make the darn things. Just wish I could buy a brand new newly made exact quality copy of an AU-717. I'd be a happy camper. Make some MOSFET chips and make a new AU-X1111. Now were talkin.
I just don't understand why they don't do it, contract out the designs.
LPs on an AU-717...just an excellent quality strong sound...like 'real, live stage, with a stunning wonderful awesome sound'...perfect. The kind of the sound the younger generation has never even heard and most old timers have forgotton. Those amps weren't just powerful, they had a 'deep powerful professional sound'.
