Which Speakers are you using with McIntosh Integrated?

View attachment 1494140

My MA6600 drives a pair of Klipsch Cornwall III's. Considering the speakers 102db efficiency, it's overkill. The wattage meters barely hit 20 watts at sound levels that would make a Rolling Stones roadie cry "jeezus, turn it down!!"

Thank you (and everyone) for this thread. Looking at a MA8900 and Cornwall III and this helps.

I am assuming that you like your setup at lower volumes?

[I am going from a NAD338 with Klipsch RP160M to the MA8900 and Cornwall III and making sure I am not making a mistake.]

Absolutely! ..I've never had a speaker that sounds so engaging and lifelike even at very low listening levels. It's important in such cases to have an integrated amp (or pre-amp) that has a volume control b/c many such components loose their left/right tracking when the volume control is near zero'd. ..If you're looking at Mac gear, this will NOT be a problem. :) ..Though I will say the 8900 is overkill. You'll never need more than 20 watts or so. ..But hey, you only live once. ..The 8900 is gorgeous and has all the features I think a real music-lover will require such as: balance control, mono switch, and tone controls. Enjoy!

A pair of Lintons with a MA5200. I'm still searching but until I find that just right combo I'm pretty satisfied.

If you're looking at the MA8900, also check out the MAC7200. 98% of the features; 100% of the performance; and a top quality FM tuner thrown in to boot. Heck, just the McIntosh tuner is a $5k item on its own. I regard the MAC7200 as the greatest value in the current McIntosh product line. Got one in my office. Considered the MA8900 before I made the decision.

Our living room setup is pretty close to an MA6200 integrated: MX117 and MC502 driving ADS L1290 speakers. More than enough power and precision for that room.
