Echoing the earlier post, you are posing this in a forum for audio geeks...but with that said, here goes:
I have the same situation....almost.
I am a soph in high school and a huge nerd. All I can talk about is audio equipment (old only, and no digital), music (classical, "classic" rock, progressive, some jazz, and some showtunes). I also know more than a little about computers and I have a weight problem (being corrected). The only girl that I ever went out with was someone who on first impression, had no personality, was sad and miserable, and I was attracted to one of her friends. I started talking classical music and this girl (this was a camp for weight loss) that didn't look like she "belonged" was talking knowledgeably about music and wanting to learn more. Turns out, I started dating her, unfortunately nothing big came out of it, because she is in Iowa and I am in Saint Louis. The camp reunion was yesterday, and she was there. We are still very good friends, and if she was closer in residence, something would have come out of it. the moral of this rambling tale is that if you start talking what you like, know, and love, you will find someone who shares at least one of the same interests (my ex even liked vinyl). It took me 4 years...ever since 6th grade, and she wasn't even in my school, or state.
