Usually it's a self-portrait I sketched on a Post-It Note one day while I was at work. I changed it to Yukon Cornelius for the winter, though, because he and I bear a certain resemblance.
Are avatars meant to be unique? Or is it okay to use the same one as someone else? Opinions?
Btw, I did watch the Simpson's for a few years when the show first aired, but not anymore: I just think the picture (as it relates to Homer's character) is hilarious.
The above is from the album cover in my collection that, for part of me, most 'Freudianistically' represented where I [who emanated from the English 'Black Country'!] was at, eighteen months ago, on retiring to the UK, after many fruitful and enlightening years in Canada
Cheers, og/Dave :thmbsp:
PS: Note date posted as avatars are rarely permanent
I think mine should be self-explanatory. The irony behind it is that I picked the user name "Arkay" based on the initials "R" and "K" --not because of any link to audio gear. At the time I chose it, I didn't even know that Arkay actually WAS an audio brand! It seemed too much of a fortunate coincidence not to take advantage of it, and when the old Arkay newspaper ad scan showed up online. I grabbed a copy and cropped it. Another AKer helped me to reduce the file size and otherwise clean it up (as far as possible) for use as an avatar.
I was at 711 one night buying a pack of smokes, and saw mine plastered to the counter. A warning sign about selling cigs to minors. The pic made my laugh pretty good, so I took a picture of it with my phone, and the rest is history.
I picked some deliberately trashy, and campy record that shows I've spent a sizable chunk of my life digging through vinyl at thrift stores. If I wanted to post something I really loved,it would be something like this
I liked it because I can look at this bizarro pile o' drivers and instantly imagine exactly how bad they'd sound all firing at once, and the mental image I get is perfectly displayed by the dude in the pic.
I have been working with "her" for over 25 years now and she is finicky, but does not let me down...as long as I give her enough attention. And she's sooo cool when she's fired up and ready to make sweet music
The yellow Panasonic Panapet 70 was a gift from my parents in the seventies in my childhood. It's nostalgic. My mom had the radio stored away for years when she finally gave it back to me last year. It reminds me just how long I've had a desire for music. Plus I like how it looks.
