Why do you go on AudioKarma?

Really, to while away my daily boredom as a shut in cripple, with sometimes technical curiosity occasionally draws me in to try to provide some member help, if I think I can !
I wake up usually in the morning, come into this room, scroll through all of A/K`s new posts pages and check out any selected active post alerts that have appeared since the last time I was perusing the forum, and then respond to any posts/comments directed to me.

After going through all the daily new posted pages, I switch over to selecting and watching YouTube videos until I turn in for the evening, then repeat the next day, yr. after yr., pretty much since joining in 2016.

Pathetic existence, maybe, but it is what it is. Like my mentor Alfred E. Neuman quotes: What Me Worry !

I had. Samsun 9090db I purchased new the the late 80s . That was in the basement for like 10 years , after finding my beloved stereo I forgot how the rocks music made my life a better place . I pulled out with a set of Technics SB- 7000@ and a technics SL1600 with Teac CD player , I hooked everything out and to my demise it when it’s the dreaded protection mode :) . So I brought it in to a stereo shop near my location . Just the 9090 and the tech guy said I can get it going for 450.00 , I didnt know much about the inners if of so said sure . Found out the tech bent me over for the work he did , on the unit . After finding out he replaced a few cap and a couple of resistors, lesson learned . But the kicker was the stereo and all my other gear was in 9/ 10 shape , grew up with nothing , I told great care of the stuff I purchased . So I stop in to pick up my repaired Sanskrit , and the guys comes out with the same receiver I brought in , but it wasn’t mine , the one to wanted to give me had more stickers then I had ever seen in my life , up POS was out of 10 was a minus 5 . I flipper out , turns out someone came in and grabbed the wrong stereo . Finding after some phone calls I got my love back in my hands :) took the unit home and the speakers were dead . I did a lot of searching on the unit, and found AK ! Best day in my life for my loved habit . Put a post up on AK about the speakers , I live in Michigan , within a few hours I got a couple pms and a exchange of phone # from members from SMAC , Southeastern Michigan Audio Club . Are you forking kidding

AK reminds me of the song “ Simply Irresistible.” It used to look good to me, but now I find it simply irresistible. It seems as though I cannot go a day without checking in to it. WTH happened?

I think @Mr Boochie ‘s dance card is full.
That ship sailed off into the lost horizon — the last millennium.

Found AK back in '06 while searching for info on a DHC-220 receiver I'd purchased new back in about 1973. It had died and I was hoping to find out something about reviving it. Determined toasted emitter resistors were the culprit...no schematic to be found....so I stuck in what I thought would be an appropriate value and it worked sorta. Did learn it was also sold as a Pilot 220 and possibly other brands, though. Strictly a non-functioning sentimental piece now, but I continue to hang here nearly every day. Best site on the web bar none.
