I feel bad for OP. Live and learn.

I bought a pair in my early days for $15 at a thrift. They couldn't barely articulate double bass drum without severe distortion.

My scrotum would make better 8 inch woofers then the drivers in those DS-810s.
 
I think the destruction is stupid.

Fisher speakers of that era are pretty cheezy but they played music well enough to be recognizable as music and were good enough to keep Sanyo in business selling them.

I don't like to wantonly destroy anything that makes music. Even my little Aiwa speakers...and those things are state of the art awful, the kind with the resistor crossover. Hey, no phase shift with a resistor, what am I complaining about? :D
