WiiM WiFi Streamer

Finally got the firmware update last night. Playing from Tidal through LMS via the Material Skin in native Squeeze protocol to the WiiM Pro. Nice.

I'm still on the previous update, but in looking on the app at release notes for the latest Pro update, there's no mention of LMS integration. The release notes I'm referencing have a date of 9/7 and firmware 4.8.528649. I assume that's what you're running.

Odd.

edit - I see avguytx lists firmware of 4.8.626344. That's not listed in the release notes I have.

My update listed the changes after the update. It doesn't say LMS, it says Squeezebox integration.

Edit: it actually says, “supports Squeezelite…”

Got the update this morning. Running LMS natively now. Nice.

Any thought on whether they'll do this for the Mini?

Nope. They've stated several times in their forums that the memory constraints on the Mini are severe, so no Squeezelite or Roon, unless they remove something else. The 4-band PEQ did make it to the Mini, though.

I am quite happy with the new PEQ, I can now apply some Low and High frequency shelf cuts to tame a mild 1KHz to 2KHz droop. One thing I’ve discovered reading the WiiM forum is the importance of using the recently added volume limit control to counter any positive dB level gains from EQing, to avoid clipping. It acts as the EQ preamp setting in this case.
Added before no PEQ Room Response and after with PEQ added.IMG_0647.jpegIMG_0646.jpeg

Yeah, I thought that odd that I had one that seemed different than others. I played around with it for a bit for about an hour and, for the first time in months, it didn't cut out, stop playing, get hung up, etc., while listening to Qobuz. So that was nice.

I need help to reset the older KEIID KS-W01.

I have this receiver at a new location and can’t get it to hook up to the new WiFi.

I don’t have the remote control or the instructions. Only reset info I could find is to hold the WPS button down for 5 seconds. That is on the remote which I don’t have here. Anyone know how to reset without the remote?

Thanks

Ok. For those of you with the old KEIID still in service, the update APP for the newer units didn’t work for me. Had to find a legacy Muzo APP to get it running, but ultimately had success.

Coming soon...

The expected release date is in early November, with a price point of around $300

Hmm. That might seriously be something I look into for the living room since I pre-wired for speakers, ethernet, and power for something small. I wonder with it having HDMI ARC if I can run the TV back into it for the sound to come out of it to the speakers like some others out there do... If so, that would really be nice.

Edit: Yes, I see that it IS in fact the input from a TV.

Bought a Wiim mini just over a year ago, and it’s now dead in the water. Used it about 5 times total, went to use it again and it won’t connect (reset everything - device, network, etc., just to see if it was anything on my end) and it’s still a goner. Every other device on my network continues to work flawlessly. Feel very ripped off by the entire experience, and not pleased. Buyer beware…at least in my experience…
Ok, after giving up on my Wiim mini as dead, and seeing that Amazon would only take returns up to 30 days, I put my Wiim mini back in its original box and stuck it next to my recliner as a good example of a bad purchase on my part. WELL…months later as I was rifling through the stuff next to my chair, I decided last week to give it one more last ditch effort at redemption (with very little thought of success) and contacted customer support with my outlined issues. Expecting a cookie cutter “out of warranty“ reply, they shocked me and replied within 24 hours verifying that it was defective, AND SENT ME A NEW UNIT! I’m shocked, and owe them an apology!!!

I figured that my $100 purchase was just a goner after my “30 day Amazon warranted timeline”, nope - Linkplay Technologies, Inc. (the maker of the Wiim mini) came through for me with wild colors! GREAT, responsive customer support. I’m a redeemed fan!

Kudos to this company! 99% of the time with other similar devices/companies, this would have been a lost cause - especially with the time-lag of reporting my issue. Time to rock out again with my Wiim Mini! Thank you Linkplay Technology - way to take care of business!

May have to look into the WiiM Pro now, I could use a number of these for my other setups…

May it continue.

My experience is - once companies reach a certain size, and have enough people locked into the platform, they get worse, less responsive, more expensive. They're essentially harvesting the goodwill they've earned. I hope WiiM proves the exception.

You're probably right. I recommend not buying any new WiiM products, and getting rid of any that you already have. This will allow you to avoid problems that might arise in the future. :)

”Our WiiM devices come equipped with a built-in microphone specifically designed for downstream audio chain latency measurement. We have plans to leverage this feature for room measurement and automatic Parametric EQ (PEQ) adjustments for room correction. This is on our development roadmap.“

Not another listening device in the house!?! Guess I’ll just plug it into the power strip that I use to turn my vintage receiver on/off. Eliminates wear and tear on the receiver’s power switch, and in this case would also plug some unwanted ears while not in use…
