I'm a big fan of 70's rock, and I enjoyed Wolfmama also. I had initially checked them out on itunes and was not that impressed, but when it came up in a used cd joint, I got it anyway. WAY better than I thought, and glad I got it. (Let's see, 100 posts in 3 years.....gonna have to back off some!)

Yes, quite a definate 70's throwback feel to this band, nice and heavy. The vocals are the weak point in this band, way too thin for the hard sound of the band, but still an excellent listen, one of my favorite drivin' in the car bands!

Yeah, I just bought this album because this song was on Guitar Hero III and just rocks. I thought it was a remake but couldn't put my finger on it. I bought the cd and I am really digging it. Sometimes it takes a few listenings of a cd before I start to really like it but this one is a lot of fun from the first time through.

I saw them perform "Woman" on Letterman. Keyboard lead in the middle reminded me of Deep Purple! Young guys probably influenced by their parents records!

....they get a bit snooty if people question their infuences. I dig em', but I'm bit over them now. The Woman ep came out down here about 3 years ago, LP the year after that. They were flavour of the month for a while.........

I got their CD when it first came out, and still isten to it fairly often.

I wished more bands like this would come around. Seems the bands bringing back old sounds do well.. Amy winehouse is a good example with her mowtown sound. Yeah, she has her problems, but she does have a talent for bringing back an old sound.

Even though they are an older band, Stray cats did well bringing back Rock-a-billy... just saying is all...

Another new "old band" sounding group is Black Stone Cherry. http://www.blackstonecherry.com/ One of the kids father used to play with The Kentucky Headhunters.. you can hear the influence in their music..

Yep - WM is pretty good stuff. From the sounds of what you've listed here, if you haven't yet heard Clutch - you should check them out.

Their newest is called "From Beale St. to oblivion" - I love it - from there work backwards through their catalog.


...oh, and I really like the Black Stone Cherry disc too!

Young guys carrying on the classic rock legacy... good on 'em. And I'm proud to say they're my countrymen. But like Jet's first album, it's hard for me to say whether this will hold up as "good" over the long term, I'm a bit doutful. Plenty'o'killer hooks, catchy lyrics, but a Led Zep 1 comparison? Totally different league IMO. Professional session musos vs emerging talent. I hope the future holds bright things for them.
