Wood meets Steel

One thing I liked that the cabinet maker did was use the hidden hinges. These paticular hinges allow for a couple different adjustments using screws for aligning the doors if they are off at all. Its a very nice feature.

Extraordinary, my man. That is one beautiful gear rack.

I wouldn't worry about the doors going out of alignment (although the adjustable, quality hinges are a plus). As much steel and they way you gusseted the uprights means that nothing is going to bend in that cabinet.

The design of the Ddog Rack (what are you calling it?) is really sweet. Mind if I copy some of it? I need a rack with that kind of profile.

Great cabinet and welding! If you wanted to avoid carpet pits from the feet of the cabinet you could weld short spikes to those bolts on the feet and use a tall socket and wrench to screw them in making it grounded to the subfloor. Hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it.

Actually I found some 2 1/2" square "Super Sliders" at WallyWorld. They are made of hard plastic with rounded corners and are self adhesive. Just peel off the backing and apply the sliders. They will make it much easier to move the stand around without digging into the carpet.

Lance, go right ahead and copy anything you want. If you need any help just let me know.

Once again thanks goes out to everyone who has read my thread. I hope this gives others ideas about building something like this themselves.

Well done, Denny! The rack turned out beautifully! :thmbsp:

Now you need to design one to accommodate the wide receivers like your SX-1250. I hate to think what you spent on the rack but with results like that, who cares! It's gorgeous!

If I want I can always set the receiver on top. It would have gotten too wide to make it fit inside the shelf. I can always move the tv up on the post to make it fit.

I will building an lp rack along the same design as the tv stand in the near future.

And the speaker stands that I made for my new Pioneers are waiting to get powder coated this very moment in the same gloss black. They are pretty busy right now so they won't be finished until the end of next week.

Stunning work.

That is an amazing rack.

So, whats it look like with the gear and TV all nicely tucked into and onto it?

Thank you!

I've been working on getting my living room moved around the way I want it but I'm not done yet. Just chilling out as I'm having a beer and watch my steak cook on the fire.

This is the first time I see this thread. You are one talented dude!!

Simply beautiful craftsmanship.

Hey Denny! Can we see the finished product with all your gear and TV in place, please? I know you've got pics of that you could share. I'm sure the other posters would love to look at it all together.

Beautiful Rack.........

Hey Denny,
Absolutely superb work/design.....Nicest setup I've seen in a while, Many
kudos........Cheers, T:thmbsp:

Thanks.

I have to take another picture of what it currently looks like. I finished the tv mount so I can have my PL-630 tt sitting below the tv which this picture doesn't show. I also have a few more things in the stand. I really like how it turned out.

Lookin' mighty fine! That's a lot of work, and planning every step-I know you have to think about 3 steps ahead of each stage of construction. You deserve a steak and a:beer:
