Looks like a couple of snipers came in and blew each other out of the water.

It went from $300 to $800 in the last few.

Half that amount would have been to much for that turntable. Full Auto, Repeat, etc. etc., and you know......."Top Of The Line." Give me a break.

There seems to be a run on nice looking Pioneers lately. We've had tonearms go for a lot as well. Many by non-US buyers. For whatever reason these have become as hot as can be.

With the weak US doller it does not surprise me that non US buyers would flood the market.

well the guy on this table is registered in the USA his last buy (that got feedback was a Miracord Table for like $152.00 Bet this will be a surprise if the wife see's the bill LOL.

The weak US dollar has made my buying stuff off of USA eBay a realistic option of late.

The AUS has dropped off a little in the past 10 days but the exchange rate is still attractive.

And with USA values of some items significantly cheaper than in other parts of the world it is no wonder that overseas buyers are probably getting excited.

Certainly when the AUS and US dollar were almost one for one a few weeks back I bought a few bits.

That said, postage can still be painful so unfortunately the purchases have not been hi fi.

As much as I want to, I wont be buying too many old high end receivers even though the (cheap) prices make me cry!

:)

I can hear the thrift stores raising their prices as I type this.

"Yeah, but they sell for 800 bucks on Ebay!"

I remember when those TT's went for around a buck and a half on Ebay and back then I thought that was high, but $800! GEEZ!

Don't be surprised if that TT shows up again after the winning bidder comes to his senses and bails.

LOL. For less money that buyer could have had this:

Not my listing, and sold in one day. That would have been a complete "no brainer". You can lead a horse to water.....ya can't make him drink.

I love certain vintage items as much as the next guy, however I am constantly amazed by the sheer stupidity some folks show. :nono:

Best,

Paul :thmbsp:

That's a nice table, but at THAT price? Seems :screwy: when you compare it with what else that much money could buy!

:scratch2: If that is really the level where Pioneer TTs are heading, I wonder how much my PL-C590 or PL-L1 are "worth"? Maybe I should sell them and buy a used car or take a vacation in Hawaii... :D

Neither of the pricey bids for that TT qualify as 'snipes' to my way of thinking.

There was a $700+ bid which was placed over an hour before the end of the auction. The price prior to that bid was around the $300+ mark.
It must have pissed Mr $700+ that he got pipped in the end. :tears:
Then again....he might have been quite grateful. :smoke:
