I want to roll the 12AX7 tubes in my X-202. Which 12AX7's controls the audio? Can I use a 5751 in it's place like I do in my 500B?

2 -- Based on the tube layout diagram in the Fisher service manual for the X-202:

1. V1 and V2 (12AX7) are the phono preamps for the left and right channels respectively. These tubes are only used when you are using the phono inputs.

2. V3 (12AT7) is the 1st stage line amplifier for BOTH channels. Used for all inputs EXCEPT the Tape Monitor inputs.

3. V4 and V5 (12AT7) is the 2nd stage line amplifier for the left and right channels respectively. Used for all inputs.

4. V6 (12AX7) is the tone control amplifier for BOTH channels. Used for all inputs.

5. V7 and V8 (7247) AF amplifier and Phase Inverter for the left and right channels respectively. Used for all inputs.

So, some tubes affect one designated channel, while others affect both. Good luck with it!

Thanks...why can't I find the service manual for just the X-202? When I do a search it comes up X-202-B

She is up and running... I was worried the EL84's wouldn't be enough for my JBL's compared to the 7591's... not true... This X-202 has more punch and airiness I am amazed. Love it ...Should I replace the 3 cans? Does anyone have a wood cab they want to sell? It's a keeper..
