Yamaha A1 Change from Bulbs to LED

plresults

Active Member
Hi: Can a knowledgeable member please share with me where to order, and the exact parts numbers, for the two green and one white LED lights to replace existing bulbs in a Yamaha A1? I want to do it myself, and this is a first ever repair attempt. Any watch outs for this repair regarding specs for the LEDs, or otherwise? Muchos gracias!

Those 12V 60mA incandescent bulbs are the original bulbs that cam in both my 1978 CR-2020 and CR-1020. From my experience, you're lucky if they even last ten years. My CR-1020, I've replaced the bulbs in in twice. So the third time I decided to go with LED's. That's what I recently put in the CR-2020 as well. So far, so good. Here's where I got them, and yes - I know they're prolly available from other/better sources.

Thank you arhai! Did you have to changes any resistors, or make other modifications, to get them working, or was it straight up plug-n-play from bulb to LED? Soldering required?

Original lamps are 12V 60mA and I will strongly recommend you to not use LED

Original lamps have 10 years time life minimum
Clinic: The spec called for in the service manual, for the A1 integrated amp, on HiFiEngine is 14.5V and 80mA. Are you quoting a spec that isn't North America?

Yes , because they are 14,5V 80mA and not 12V/60mA

Both the CR-2020 & CR-1020 take 5 - 12V 60mA incandescent bulbs from the factory. Go check the schematic.

That original quote (12V 60mA) came from Clinic-Audio, not me. I only chimed-in because I recognized those as the same bulbs that originally came in both my CR units.
Sorry for any confusion.

M-2,M-4 ,C-4,C-6 have the same lamps as the A-1 ... 14.5v@80ma Look'm up in the parts list of the service manual..

Avionics: If I were to substitute LEDs into the A1, is it a straight swap, or do I need to do some other mod to make them work? Thanks.
