Yamaha A1 restoration 2021

Wonderful news.
At some point, and whenever as I know that you’re busy with other projects, I have a feeling that with two of these fitted the imaging (and possibly other aspects) of the A-1 will be excellent! Am convinced that the upright daughter board was a means of quality control by Yamaha to ensure that service engineers fitted only ‘matched’ 2sk100 pairs. It might have cost more but very accurate matching was an element of the amplifier’s design that was important to get right.
Maybe Linear Systems ‘quad matched pair 2sk170’s ‘ are partly a consequence of this?

Hi all, is there anyone here who currently owns this amp (A-1) or does he know it as well as himself for some temperature concerns?
I have one that I have just restored but I have doubts about the heating of some components.

Best to open a new thread rather than pollute this one, state which parts are getting abnormally hot, hint, parts with heat sinks are expected to get hot. I run mine at low-ish volume into some budget altecs, main heat sinks are cool. Have you checked the bias, also what work was done as part of the restore (recap and ???)
