Yamaha CA 600 Repair 2026

Starts at about 1.2 Vdc then goes up and stabilizes at 2.49 Vdc.
About 50mA which is fine on DBT.

Assume all B+ wires etc have been reconnected
Time to power up on mains, no DBT, have your MM still connected across FR703, it may spike at power ON but should remain below 6Vdc. The relay will be kicking in at each power up.

edit
If OK then try connecting speakers or dummy load, continue to monitor FR703 voltage

That was on mains. We have been off the DBT for quite awhile now.

NO, I am too afraid.

Back from the Hockey game,
Oh come on don't be a scaredy cat !!

If your afraid do the DC test I told you to do again at the speaker jacks. Volume down,
Speaker selector on A . Test the A speaker jacks.

PS: You will only get some mV if the relay clicks....Closer to 0 is better.
If you don't hear the relay they you wont get any voltage or close to 0 again.

Try headphones, it's an easier load.
Otherwise make up a dummy load, any 1W or higher resistor anywhere 4.7ohms to maybe 100ohms, certainly 6-10ohms preferred. Set volume to minimum otherwise you will smoke the load resistors

Back from the Hockey game,
Great, I need to go back to the day job

I need to plug in a source I assume?

How will I know if sound is going thru?
for my test no source needed to check if any DC is on the outposts.

If low DC then you can use head phones and a source to see if there is sound .

I hooked up my Iphone with an RCA line into Aux1 and no sound then I remembered the Pre Out Main In switch was off so I put it back.

Got sound out of the headphones. Left MM hooked up the whole time and it never went past 2.49 Vdc.

$50 says it will blow up again tomorrow.

I will hook up small bookshelf speakers and maybe a cassette deck and see what happens. I will keep MM on FR703 and monitor.

Thank You everyone for all your help. I will check in tomorrow.

PS it was a very bad day, my beloved Hawkeyes got beat by Ohio State and my daughter is a student at The University of Iowa where the Hawkeyes are from.

Powered her up with cell phone connected thru RCA and she put out music for 10 minutes straight. Left side is louder than the right side and the left output transistors are a bit warmer than the right side. Can't find anything that is supper hot and nothing smoking. MM connected to FR703 the whole time and holding steady right at 2.51 Vdc.

Hang tight for my thoughts on all this. LOL

Ok here is where you need to monitor the Bias for both channels. One might be higher causing that side to be hotter.
