Yamaha CA-810 Schematic Issues

Serious issues between schematic, drawings and parts schedule. I have the hfe and Analog Alley service manuals and both show the same issues. I believe unless someone has a more updated service manual I must find someone who has a CA-810 that could document the Power Supply 800 series of parts. Seeking your kind assistance!

Hello guys

I don't know what you are going to do but the picture your posted above is wrong

If you watch all the semi conductor from solder side you can't get what is wroten in your picture !

Just take a look on the two TO220 : you said from the left to the right : ECB

It is wrong ! it is BCE !

and this is true for all the other semi conductors

Making a page with your notes is a good idea but if you mix the BCE, ECB, CEB, etc.... you don't give to yourselve a good way to understand what is wrong with this unit !

The small point you can see under each transistor is the Collector of each transistor
White TO92 symbol is for PNP
empty TO92 symbol is for NPN

Last information :

CA810 and Japanese model CA-R1 are almost identical (if you can find a CA-R1 original service manual ....

I don't recall in the past having so many new transistors marked wrong as finding today. Found if on a tape reel not a problem. just when you get a bag of loose ones .

I now check for PNP/NPN and layout before putting any into a board. Happened like twice on one unit, may of been from the same supplier and got mixed in bin. So now check and still will find one every now and then. Both layout and type errors. Not on the same transistor yet. I purchase from Mouser and Digi Key by the time I find one it is way past doing anything.

Some of the documented voltages in the schematic are totally wrong.

What DC Volt do you have :

- at emiter of TR805 (normally 2SD234 TO 220 package on heatsink )
- at collector of TR 806 (normally 2SD234 TO 220 package on heatsink )
- at collector of TR805
- at emiter of TR806

FYI: I removed the jumpers on the back for Preamp to Amp CA-810, Connected a working Preamp with an input signal, output from CA-810 was a hum in right channel and nothing in the left channel.

Are you getting a relay "click"...on the CA-810 ?

Not if this is correct..

Emitter of 806 holds steady at -45.33
Collector of 805 holds steady at +44.70

Have you replaced D805 and D806 ? If so, with what ?

WZ061 -- 6.1v zener @ 500mw

Off the power transformer secondary there should be two blue wires and a green wire. Measure the resistance from the green wire to chassis ground. Should be less than 1 Ω.
