Yamaha CR-1020 receiver

Yesterday I bought a Yamaha CR-1020 receiver. When I was 15-16 years old I wanted one so bad but I couldn't afford it. Yesterday I stumbled across one on the internet and bought him on sight.

One of the best things about vintage audio is being able to buy pieces that we longed for back in our youth.

In the 1970s, my best friend's father owned a Pioneer SX-1010, the first 100wpc receiver. I was amazed by it when I was 8 years old. It would be a little expensive to buy one and restore it, but if I see one at a good price (and that won't need to be shipped), I may not be able to resist.

Does your new Yamaha need any repair to bring it into service?

I just picked one up last week. I can see the case sits flush with the faceplate where mine is recessed in.

Yes, Congratulations on your CR-1020. I remember when I purchased mine brand new, back in the Fall of 1977. It WAS definately pricey. I remember that it cost me $640, tax and all. ;-( But it ended up being totally worth it in the long run. I still have it today, and it's never been recapped.

Well it arrived yesterday.
I connected the speakers and the streamer and turned on the power. All lights work but unfortunately no sound. I also didn't hear a click from the relay. I think he is very dead.
I now have a discussion with the seller about the continuation........

Got my money back and the receiver is on its way to the seller. So far so good. Gonna look for an other one.
