Yamaha MX-A5000 service issues

I would like to go on and say that it was a privilege to speak with Mr. Sadeghian at Yamaha and his concern for customer care is the highest in the industry.

After the service nightmare I became most disenchanted with Yamaha after being a loyal Yamaha Audio fan for more than 40 years. the response from Mr. Sadeghian has restored my faith in Yamaha Audio.

I don't think the unit protection is a result of something connected to the unit. More than likely it is a failure in one of the output channels.
The unit is not user serviceable due to the extreme use of SMD components. Yamaha Service will not troubleshoot to component level and simply does board swapping.
Are you able to read and understand that blinking light failure code? Good Luck! :mad:

Service manual freely available from hifiengine, need to subscribe, safe, widely used, no spam.
Protection indicated by flashing power indication lamp,

Hopefully "PS Protection" as it can be the easiest to repair, seen a few RX-V's with failed voltage regulators and caps that prop up these rails.
 
Can someone please help me with the service manual. Hifiengine won't allow any new users accounts in their system unfortunately. My unit flashes for 3 times when I turn it on and switches it self off. I have tried pressing the SW85 switch to reset and it is still the same result. It won't reset the CPU. Greatly appreciate your help.

I am happy to post that I followed the instruction to reset the CPU, now I have full sound. One item still an issue is the cooling fans are not running. Therefore that error code in memory of THM/OLV protection detected excessive heat in the output.

How did you reset CPU? I have same issue THM/OLV error.
 
Just in case anyone else comes across this thread looking for how to reset the unit, I've found holding the reset button and plugging the power in does seem to reset the unit. Obviously whatever caused the issue is likely still present, in my case it might work for a few days before whatever the issue is manifests and the amp dies again.... :/

If anyone can DM me with the service manual from HiFi Engine that would be super!

Just found this thread. I'm looking more than 8 months to buy one of these and i can't find anywhere in my country.

Found 1 in a demo room in Belgium and 2 sealed in Germany.

Also found for parts.

I cannot afford Trinnov, Synthesis etc.

What do you think ?

Should i buy one or not ? Or should i go with 2 8077 Marantz ? I like the combination of the switches and the ability to add more than 1 center speaker.
