I've had people say the same about my packing, in so far as the length of time it took them to open it. Not so much of a complaint as your person, more they were thankful because their item arrived undamaged.
Lee.
I've seen both how to, and how not to pack audio gear with various things I've bought long distance.IMO, there is no such thing as over packing when it comes to shipping audio gear. The vast majority of buyers will appreciate your effort and care.
The internet teaches us that people will complain about anything.
The next TT I buy will be from you...
I would have told the buyer he got the "discounted" packaging! The "Premium" packing would have been encased in epoxy!

Once glued, I have even been able to stand on the box without it damaging anything (not that I do that to each box, of course.) And the bottoms never come apart.I had never thought of glueing the flaps - solid suggestion! The only downside - one time box. Small price to pay to receive an undamaged turntable. Well done!
I just had a first. Somebody complained that I packed their turntable too well. They wrote: "I don't appreciate the DAMM glue It took me 20 minutes to open it not to mention a strained muscle from pulling the flap. The glue was not needed all you needed to do is just wrap it with bubble pack and tape the box shut ."
I always a heavy box and glue the top and bottom flaps shut to add rigidity to the box so the container can't easily be caved in at any point around it. The last two units I had sent to me had corner damage because the seller only used some bubble wrap and when the box got smashed, so did the corner of the unit.
Most people would have just cut around the top of the box with a utility knife if they coudln't pull the flaps up. Am I overpacking? Most people seem to appreciate the extra effort. I'm sort of taken aback by this response.
The buyer is probably just an unhappy person. You did what was necessary to assure he got the TT undamaged . To bad he couldn’t appreciate it.Thanks for the support, everyone. I take it personally when someone isn't happy with what they get, but this sort of floored me.
