You know you have crappy audio equipment if....

When your 'speakers' are made of silver coloured plastic and their fronts look like the jet nozzles of a toy aircraft.

:lmao:
My wife is a teacher and I took my toddler over to visit her yesterday while she getting set up for the school year. Awhile back I picked up one of those nasty all-in-one systems from freecycle for her classroom. My daughter pointed at the silver speaker, and said, "this is a speaker?". She had a confused look on her face, like she wasn't sure. I kinda wondered if in her head she was thinking, "dad, couldn't you hook mom up with something better than this?".:D

She also pointed to the Jazz, Hall, etc buttons and asked what they did. I didn't know what to say, but I felt like saying, "I don't know, but I think they make this crappy sounding stereo sound even crappier".

...you have to jam a folded up matchbook cover under the 8-track tape to get it to sound right.

No buttons on it. Comes with remote.

Transformer isn't inside the unit, but one of those space hogging plugs.

My favorite for cassette decks was "Pioneer Music Select" system.

Girlfriend laughed. "A PMS switch? What's a PMS switch?"

Rather than explain silly marketing idea, just said: "Wouldn't know. I don't dare touch it!"

"Wise answer..." :D

A picture is worth a thousand words....
