Your favorite rock drummers?

Clive Burr from Iron Maiden was/is the drummer I think of when thinking of great drummers.
He played on the early albums: Iron Maiden, Killers and The Number of the Beast.
Even if you don't like "metal music" you have to be in awe of his unique style and ability.
Sadly he has MS now

When asked if he thought Ringo was the best drummer in the world. He replied, "Ringo isn't even the best drummer in The Beatles."
(I added the emphasis.)

fro, That IS impressive... never heard of him though. Who's band is he in?
I wouldn't say that's the best drum solo ever, but it's great. I love when modern drummers use the classic grips instead of matched grips.

Love all the aforementioned but lets go south for a moment. Al Jackson Jr.- Booker T. and Mg's/ Stax house drummer. Roger Hawkins- Muscle Shoals Howard Grimes- Hi records drummer Gene Chrisman- American studios, Memphis Ronnie Tutt- Elvis TCB band..... and now north to Detroit: Benny Benjamin, Pistol Allen, Uriel Jones, Jack Ashford- all Motown. I cant begin to mention so many other studio/live greats from all over- Nashville, L.A., New York. Scary. Also read any interview with the rock powerhouse guys and they will mention all the jazz greats at one point or another- especially Peart. British bonus/honorable mention: Terry Williams- Rockpile/ Dire Straits Bobby Elliot-The Hollies watch him on youtube. Highly underated!

oh spiderhead! How could I forget Ron Bushy!? Ive broken many a pencil over that one. Still have the whole solo in my head all these years! Im not even a drummer either! LOL! I have three copies of that damn album.

Let's not forget Janet Weiss (Quasi, Sleater-Kinney, The Jicks, Bright Eyes) - she's a drummer's drummer. For that matter, Dave Grohl does a lot with a very small drum kit (his guest drumming for Queens of the Stone Age is quite good).
