I'll also expand this to include drummers you think are underrated, unknown, etc. I'll go ahead and nominate Neil Peart as the best of the best. Unmatched speed, power, and creativity. Not to mention the drum kit. He's followed closely by John Bonham, Keith Moon, and Mitch Mitchell on my list. My #1 underrated drummer is Corky Laing from Mountain and West, Bruce, and Laing. Too bad these bands didn't hit it big (Mountain did for about a year), they were pretty talented. I love starting controversial threads. Have fun! :thmbsp: :music:

john bonham - "the rover" - i've never heard a guy speed up and slow down the tempo all at once
matt cameron (soundgarden, pj) - his fills sound like he lost the drumkit and found it again 100 yards down the street
charlie watts - some people think he sucks but i think they suck and don't have a clue but maybe i'm wrong
steven adler (g'n'r) - i know he's not that great but if you want to know why 'appetite...' sounded so different, one of the main reasons is because he went ^^ when every other drummer on earth would have went ^^^^.
that's what i think.

Rob Townsend --- best known as Family's drummer
Simon Phillips --- worked with Eno, Manzanera, Oldfield, and many others
Brendan O'Neil ---- Rory Gallager's last drummer
Dave Mattacks --- Best know for being a member of Fairport Convention
Mick Fleetwood --- Listen to Fleetwood Mac's three volume Live at the Boston Tea Party, forget everything after the incursion by Buckingham-Nicks
