This is the other speaker...

First is D220Ti, 2nd is phase reversed. FLAT as a pancake!!! on top anyway...

The CV woofer is more peaky than the tweet :scratch2: Might try adding some fiberglass to the cabinet...

Second one is phase reversed...

First is the D2500Ti-Nd pretty close:yes: 2nd is phase reversed...

A little EQ to help the bass and turning on the subs... These CV's never rocked like this

Im listening to the D2500Ti-Nd right now, it seems to have a smoother mid range to me

The D220Ti sounds great as well but a little scratchy in the mids:scratch2:

But really WTF do I know

All I can say is I haven't had this much fun since I was a geeky kid that used to drag home junk old electronics/speakers and play with em

I still gotta cut em up and get the waveguides mounted, but for now I just wanna crank em up:thmbsp:

Are you measuring from ~1M back on the waveguide axis?

Maybe dial the highs down a bit; they're looking a touch "hot," but that's really a matter of taste and listening preference.... :thmbsp:

These are the drivers, the frequency response looked real close between em so I ordered one of each to try:yes:

The D2500Ti cost a little more, $78.75 each... So far I think I like this one better but Im gonna build 2 pairs of these with both drivers so time will tell...

Where do I aim it??? 1 meter from the edge or all the way in the "horn"???

As far as it being too "hot" Im not sure my 40 yr old ears are as good as they should be after all I've put them through:scratch2:

I just measure from the front unless I'm getting real precise. Important thing is to be on axis as "reference." The actual system axis may be elsewhere.... :yes:

I'd be mighty pleased with those results.

Hole(s) at the bottom is (are) your room node(s) at the mic location.

To measure the low frequency performance accurately in-room, it's gotta be nearfield.... :yes:

CV says these are 97 DB, the woofer keeps up good with it:yes:

I see these old cast aluminum frame CV woofers all day long on E Bay cheap...

If one wanted they could always spray paint it black if they don't like the look...

Only thing is I've never seen T/S specs on em anywhere, they would have to be tested if going with a different box...

Thanks to Steve O2, two sets of Pyle PH612's are on their way from MCM. One set for my Barzilay's and the other set for my Fisher XP-10's.

I replaced the original tweeter with a soft dome and recapped the crossovers on the Fishers this summer. They sounded a little better than they did before but still not great. The nice thing about these is the mid and tweeter have their own baffle board so I won't have to modify the cabinets. I'm excited to see what they sound like when I'm finished with them. The bass is excellent. Everything else sucks. This may be the first Fisher econowave. I'll finish one of my several projects sooner or later. Hopefully sooner.

Anyone have any idea what the efficiency of the woofers might be? They are 15".

Nice curves! If you are going to keep on with the CV drivers you mifgt want to invest in WooferTester, I think its around 100.00 for the basic one.
Top end is nice and flat, bottom is likely room artifacts as Zilch pointed out.
A lot of discussion about this way back in the beginning, when Skywave got his Behringer.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and it is my first post.
I saw the Econowave during a Google search for a good replacement Tweeter (fried egg) for my Large Advents (Circa 1975 utility cabunets).
So I am now waiting for the Parts Express package to come so I can build my Xovers and install the speakers!
Unfortunately the Pyle waveguides are on B/O til 10/30/09 :tears: At least it is not too long to wait.
My Advents never sounded great to me, Bass was good but highs were dull to my ears and absolutely no imaging in my room.

I hope I'll be Happy (No turning back as I cut my openings for the Waveguides)!

I have to say the guys at MCM are super fast. Ordered my Pyle waveguides on Tuesday night and they came today. Now I have screw on horns and bolt on compression drivers. I will probably make some adapters so I can play with these until the QSC's show up. Need to place another order with PE for the D220ti's and crossover parts so I can finish my other planned projects.

I went to a local cabinetry shop today and am having them build me front and rear baffles for my Barzilay cabs.

I've decided to try 1 Dayton Classic 250-8 10" driver per cabinet, essentially reusing all the parts from my existing econowaves built in L26 cabs..

I'm having them cut the holes for the woofers and waveguides, and am using 1" MDF front and back.

Total cost is $80. Materials were around $35-40.

Looking forward to my new barzilay waves!

I've been enjoying and tweaking my L26 waves for a while now and have them sounding pretty good. Hopefully I like the new ones even better.

Great project, I've learned a ton.
