Zilch's AK Design Collaborative - Econowave Speaker

So, say if someone just happened to buy a set of JBL LE14As, what would be a good sized box to build for them and a WaveGuide? We're talking scratch here too, guys no retrofits and with a removable motorboard from the front. Well at least for the initial prototypes as a finished version can be done differently

I know Jack and Zilch have worked a lot with these, so I'm curious to hear where they think this should go.

416A measured parameters:

Vas will be measured shortly.

Re: 11.41 10.24 ohms
Fs: 26.24 26.92 hz
Qts: .2305 .2186
Qes: .2436 .2306
Qms: 4.299 4.215
Le: 1.243 1.235mH
Vas: 45.1 ft^3

I take it you got your WT3? Now, make sure you get some sleep instead of playing with your new toy all night.

416A impedance curve.

It arrived today. I've got about 200 or so drivers to test before sleep is allowed. :)

Are you going to build test boxes for Vas before sleep too? Or are you just going to use precisely measured lumps of Liberty's oatmeal for delta mass?

416A impedance curve.

Don't know what you did for the screen capture but it would be a lot more helpful on this end if you could include the scale for the impedance.

Dave do you have something that turns them into FRD and ZMA files?

I'm experimenting with a different xover calc program that I can import an mess with.

I can provide you with a ZMA file but the FRD will require tests with a mic.

If you are just playing around with some sims, you can download SPL tools (SPL Tracer and View) and install them. It will allow you to trace the FRD and ZMA files from published data.

416A #1 in stock 846B Valencia:

Net volume = 5.288 cuft
Ducts = 2 X 4.25" X 6.25" Long
Fb = 35.79 Hz
F3 = 73.39 Hz
F6 = 57.73 Hz
F10 = 45.02 Hz

Adding 2 cuft, same ducts
Fb = 30.5 Hz
F3 = 71.81 Hz
F6 = 52.68 Hz
F10 = 39.50 Hz

Before we make too many conclusions, let me use something other than the notoriously suspect delta mass method of calculating Vas. :)

Gotcha Dave!

Dave:

Do you have a 416Z out of a Valencia 846A to test? That seems to be another of the "mystery" speakers. I can pull one and make a field trip or meet you at work so you can test it if you don't.

Let me know.

We assume 416A and 416Z are the same drivers.

That'd be good to know for certain, too....:thmbsp:
