What Google AI said today (8-20-26)

I did a quick look at both the other sites mentioned in that google AI review. AI not being trustable without some verification and all.

Satellite stopped using Advally earlier this year because Advally never once paid them after months of using the service. (non-payment was also a complaint in the Trustpilot reviews by others that used Advally).

Surftalk, similar to AK, Advally had quit responding to anything within the forum. It appears they quit using them but I'm not sure. Both the other forums are very small compared to AK.

Ha, and the Advally website itself looks like it was made by a 13 year old 13 years ago with links to dead pages as its' primary driver.

Yeah. A web search suggests there are major issues with Advally. It's sad.

My question then.....WHY??? WHY are we using something that not only makes the site a PITA for some, but serves no purpose??? If they refuse to help out when there is an issue with their service and fail to pay, WHY would we even think about using it.
This is more speculative while anything I've posted before had a bit more meat on its' bones.

According to an ex-employee on the reddit thread the founder/original owner of Advally (Doug Bishop) is no longer there and left sometime last year. That timeline somewhat jives with the other stuff. Mr Bishop was the one who DID once reply to AK members on the thread he started that is now not being viewed by Advally with any frequency (again it has been almost a month). Advally was likely a good business partner for some time.

And being that AK is LARGE compared to those other forums, those still at Advally might still be making AK payments as holding onto this cash cow is worth it for them. This part is extremely speculative, for all I know AK hasn't been paid in months, that seems just as possible.

So, someone else is now making decisions there that are very different than the ones he made. That someone (or whoever) told Mrs. Grumpy they'd look into it but all crickets since it appears.

It all fits what little I know, but again, all that is only educated guessing and likely incomplete even if accurate.

It might be the insomnia talking, and I suppose it might get me banned, but here's a hypothesis that I'm having a hard time discrediting:

What if Advally, though formerly kind-of-OK, is now controlled by venture capitalists? They might be partners with other V.C. organizations that are behind the malware "ads". They might be using V.C. methods, such as withholding due payments, to keep the innocent AK ownership from bailing out.

If anyone has evidence that contradicts this hypothesis, I'd love to hear it.

(Please feel free to replace "venture capitalist" with "criminal". That's what I wrote at first, but I thought the V.C. spin was less likely to get me banned. Pretty hard to tell the difference, as far as I can see.)

While I see some other similar but slightly less dramatic possibilities with all this, if that post does get you banned it says more about those banning you than it does about what you posted. With that in mind, I'm sure you are fine.

sounds more like uneducated guessing to me :dunno:
Better ideas? I'm all ears and clearly stated that post was speculative but the educated part, I stand by. I've done some homework here. An educated guess doesn't mean its' accurate or even smart, just researched.

Can we all stop speculating as its just clouding up solving the actual issue ?

I agree, even as one that has done some of the speculating.

What we know:
1. Members who are not subscribers and guests are getting bombarded with ads, many of them with the intent of criminal behavior behind them.
2. Advally had told Mrs. Grumpy they were on it and to have members post screenshots with information. Multiple members have done just that.
3. Advally has not responded to any of those posts in any way nor have the malicious ads lightened up in any way. They also have not updated Mrs. Grumpy to our knowledge since telling her they were "on it"
4. Advally has chosen not to comment here since March and even after logging in did not take the 45 seconds to responds to anything within the last day or so.
5. Reddit, Trustpilot and other forums that once used Advally all speak of lack of payment and the forums, similar spammy ad problems.
6. Tech savvy AK members state the malicious ads are purposefully including non-subscribing members.

Speculation could easily end with Advally action and/or explanation of why the problem persists but for whatever reason after a month they have not done so.

I reckon I'd rather be accused of lacking self-control than of lacking empathy for harms being done to others.

:rflmao: Snark hinting others lack self-control. That's self-awareness so few possess. Cute - borderline adorable even.

Still way more input than Advally on the situation so gotta give him that.

Forums are dying, not growing, as a way to find and gather information. The validity of the information has less value today than ever - I got an answer in seconds has for more weight than I got the answer I was looking for. Attention spans are now measured in seconds.

Social media offers the best return for
most given those criteria. So why then run off the regulars and the visitors with ads of this magnitude?

It seems like this is just how Advally works and I assume it’s “working as intended”
After reading a post above talking about Advallys website, I notice they also manage a forum that I used to be active in 15 years ago, Audizine. It seems even worse there! Check out a pic of the interface with me being logged in: stacked ads on the top, side bar ad, bottom bar ad, bottom right corner video ad.

Maybe audiokarma should kick them to the curb, but it seems like they do more than just the ads - they seem to manage the forum software itself? Bummer. I doubt there are too many companies left offering that service.

Oh no one is lacking empathy for visitors.

I hate ads as much as anyone. But I balance my comments with empathy for the people running this place.

And knowing what I know. These Ad's are likely less than enough to support this place.

So digging into site financials (What I was referring to as speculation that does not help) IMHO is out of line.
