I just picked up a couple of receivers this morning. Sansui 1000x and a Yamaha CR 400. Pretty excited to hear the Sansui with my Heresys!

Got them from a local guy who runs an ebay store for mostly stereo part and knobs etc. He had a garage sale of sorts for some of his units. Lots of Pioneer (which I already have a enough of) and some other good stuff that I didn't need ha.

Both of these units need to be cleaned but I got them for a good price. Phono section on Yamaha is not sounding good though. I'll have to look into that when I get the chance and see if I can get some help from AK.

Congrats on the additions! They'll both have a different sound signature for sure, but I think you just might be very happy with that Sansui. I have heard very good things about that series of Sansui receivers from that era. Too bad about the phono section on the Yammy though. :P Stupid question: have you deoxited all the pots, switches, and jacks yet? It might just be a simple fix like just a good cleaning. Happy listening! :music:

No I have not deoxited the Yamaha yet. It is humming/buzzing only on the phono section. I checked and the turntable is connected properly at grnd and rca.

I'm a novice with this stuff but I will deoxit it because some of the pots are a bit scratchy. I don't know what to do about the phono hum though. Thoughts?

^Well in all honesty, when it comes to more technical equipment diagnosis, I am not that knowledgeable either, but there are tons of great folks here that I am sure can help you better than I can. :) Hopefully there is a suggestion out there that may be able to help you out, but that sounds like a deeper issue. But hopefully I'm wrong though. :P So have you had a chance to hook up the Sansui yet? How does it sound? :)

Congrats on the acquisitions!

Not much more needs to be said about the Sansui. Nice.

That Yamaha CR-400 is quite the nice little Receiver. I had one decades ago in my office. Really wish I had not sold it. It was a great little rig. Very much underrated. Excellent for a dining room, office, bedroom or similar situation.

Enjoy.

^Well, nothing a little Deoxit can't fix! ;) I have heard good things about tuner and phono sections from that series of Sansui, so I am not surprised to hear you say that. And that Sansui looks cool to boot! ;) Good times! :music:
