2010-11 College Basketball

I thought I was doing good with 5 wins but we had one guy in our pool win 7 games. There's no way to beat that.

11 Big East teams in.......2 make it to the Sweet 16.

5 ACC teams in...............3 make it to the Sweet 16.

So much for the ACC Conference having a "down" year?

Steve

Charles Barkley made an interesting point last night. He said that, with the exception of Kimba Walker at UConn, the Big East has a bunch of teams with average talent and great coaching.

Then again, I think all of NCAA basketball is having somewhat of a down year in terms of talent without many outstanding teams/players. Kimba Walker and Jimmer Fredette seem to be the exceptions.

ACC only had 4 teams in NCAA tournament :)

Additional fun facts:
Richmond, VA has two teams in Sweet 16
Florida (the state) has two
North Carolina has two
Wisconsin has two

Charles Barkley, as humorous and entertaining as he is, doesn't have much of a comedy repertoire. He's a career contrarian, and he got lucky with his chosen topic, Who knew the conference would bomb to this degree.

He's quite full of ****, inasfar as immediately after complimenting Marquette's advancement, he again flogged the "too many Big East teams" horse. He asserted that only eight should have been selected, and UConn finished 9th in the conference standings, and Marquette 11th.If two of the bottommost eleven teams surviving and advancing to the final 16 doesn't speak to top to bottom conference quality and team strength, what would?

Even a blind hog finds a chesnut now and then, and Charles found his.

Aw c'mon, Charles is fun. He's paid to make bombastic statements that are wrong most of the time so at least give him the nod on this one. There are too many stuffed shirt by the book guys commenting on sports these days.

I actually love the guy, and make sure I'm watching every time the CBS studio team is on air because of his presence on the panel. I've been a fan of his since his days at Auburn, and love his brand of humor and candor to this day.

I'm just saying he's talking through his very ample behind when it comes to this point

Quite likely. I don't follow much Big East stuff so why did UConn finish 9th? Injuries? Team Chemistry? Coaching? They actually did suck?

I really need them to make it to the title game.

to quote Sir Charles himself in a serious moment of his, as Kemba goes, so goes UConn. Barkley perfectly characterized Walker's play as "Curly Neal' like, trying to do it all by himself off the dribble. Once he settled down, they returned to winning.

That, and they play in, by far, the toughest conference, top to bottom, in college basketball.

Duke looks weak. Ohio State looks strong.

The Big East gets ratings due to the citified locations. That might have something to do with it.

ACC/VaTech fans can legitimately bitch and moan about getting screwed again, but until they move from Blacksburg/Floyd VA, they'd better win more games.

True dat. But then I'd have to start drinking whiskey with a label on the bottle.

The interviews with Sir Charles made me laugh out loud.
Every time Barkley spoke Rick Pitino rolled his eyes
