great job Tar Heels! it wasn't pretty, but a win over Kentucky is a glimmer of hope. this was the first time I've seen them play with Carolina pride and toughness in a couple years. well done

Memphis is right across the border from Missouri, so I'll give them a free pass to borrow the "Quantrill" banner.
 
lol, I saw some fans "waving the wheat" at MSG in the final minute, and thought of you. Kansas won, but should have stomped such a young team. Memphis will get better after the three freshman starters season a bit, but Kansas was just too much on the front line. Not long now before their new guard is eligible, so KU is looking good. Still a far cry from the level of play Duke is performing at, but there's time before that's a concern. K State and Baylor still loom large.

Three absolute masters of the game are in the building working for ESPN...Bobby Knight, Jay Bilas, and Digger Phelps, and they have that meat nozzle Dick Vitale calling the second game...if I hear "diaper dandy" again, I'll hurl something at my tv
 
Duke mulling Kyrie Irving's options

This injury is a real game changer among the elite college hoops teams this year, doing much to level the field. As a lifelong Tar Heel fan, I have rarely felt any regret for Duke losing some of its embarrassment of basketball riches, but what a shame for this remarkably talented young man. He was already seen by pro scouts as the top NBA draft pick, were he to declare for it after only his freshman season.

I'll be pulling for the UK Wildcats as always....very young,so season will promise to be ugly but fun to watch most of the time.
 
Kansas baaaarely squeaks past USC at home, and didn't look very sharp doing it, but a W is a W, and the wheat gets waved again at Allen Field House, think thats 65 in a row there
 
The Battle of Philadelphia tonight at 7 EST

Temple at Villanova tonight on ESPN2, both ranked and ready, always a classic. These two teams, along with Drexel and St. Jo have made Philly the toughest college basketball town in the country for decades

15th ranked Notre Dame visits 5th ranked Syracuse early this afternoon. ND soundly beat another top ten team a few days ago, Georgetown by 14 points, but I think the Mackeral Snappers will be overmatched against the Orange. We'll soon find out

I have to admit that after watching the ND/G'town game I was a bit worried about this one. It was a nail biter for 30 minutes before the 'Cuse pulled away. Looks like Boeheim calling the team overrated earlier this year has really motivated them. When Fab Melo gets up to speed....!

anybody that beats Syracuse this season will do it by slowing the game down because their transition game is relentless..would have Forrest Gump's tongue hanging down like a necktie
