2011 Rock and Roll HOF Nominees

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees have just been announced:

So glad to see someone like (and actually him) Alice on the list.. .been a while since I remeber seeing a true classic rockin trend setter show up on the list..

I also REALLY dig seeing the Beastie Boys on the list... but then comes the thought of "the Music Hall of Fame" since they can't truely be considered Rock and Roll...

Donovan? hhhhmm.. not what I'd think to be R&R, but someone that sure does need recognition... I really like his music, and Oh yeah... Dr. John was really cool... but.. I guess we all have our own idea what R&R is...

OH WELL.. all in the name of correctness...

Some of those acts are definately NOT rock and roll.

I'll save my "where the hell are they?" rant for another time. This year's list to me seems "safe," with a couple of long overdue nominations.
The following get a hearty :thmbsp:: Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, Donovan, Laura Nyro
Okay if they get in: J. Geils, Darlene Love, Tom Waites, Bon Jovi
Absolutely not: Chic, Donna Summer (no disco, period!)

I see they finally got around to Alice Cooper.

Still no Rush, Deep Purple, Kiss, Heart, Moody Blues, ELO, Chicago.
I'm not into punk - but the band "X" should be a candidate also.
The list of "should be's" could go on.

Well, there are some good ones there, no doubt. Some that don't quite fit in, and some that are missing without any good reason.

Am I the only one seeing LL Cool J?, what in the world is he doing there:scratch2:

Tom Waits, Beastie boys, and Alice Cooper, epsecially cooper were good picks. The rest, eh, they could do better. Imagine how it would go if they picked a full list of bands that actually deserve it for at least one year...nothing but rock masters.

really the RRHOF carries no weight with me. Many of the inductees of the last few years are not what I would call hall of famers who carried influence to younger generations.

for the same reason that Blondie is IN the RRHOF and Heart (Ann and Nancy Wilson) isn't.

it doesn't matter if you've sold a bazillion records, influenced a whole new wave of artists, blazed a trail few if anybody blazed no...its more important that somebody on the nomination committee really dug your music.

the list of those who should be in but aren't vs some who are in but shouldn't is the shame of the RRHOF
