2026 Winter Olympics

The user interface on the Peacock app is pretty good for the Olympic coverage. Just finished watching some curling and women's luge.

I didn't get up early enough to watch Men's Downhill - watching the Replay now. :yikes:

Yep, we have USA v FIn hockey on as background instead of the normal muzack while doing our house hold chores.

I like the drone footage, but have to wonder what the athletes think - they are noisy and during the downhill I could see the shadow of the drone cross in front of the path of the skiers. At speeds of 92mph that could be a dangerous distraction.

Same for the free style skiing with drones making loud whirring noises behind the skiers as they go into flips and spins.

As long as it's safe, I guess. :dunno:

I noticed the noise over the tv feed I can only imagine how much louder it is for the skiers.

Great point about the shadows!
 
Another nice thing about the Peacock app (I'm streaming via Roku box) is that they have a multi-view selection that shows 3 live events on the same screen.

Which works great for me as there are some events on at the same time and can't decide which one to watch.

And if you're a fan of curling, there's a quad view of the mixed curling matches. :)

There have probably been drones at all their events for years in the non-olympic years. I would imagine they are use to them by now.
 
Watching the Women's Downhill now on Replay.

The mountain scenery and camera work is stunning!

And the drones most likely have microphones as well as the camera..(that's why we can hear them in the broadcast)
These athletes are trained to watch their lane, hit their marks..
They won't hear them, and unless the drone is right in their face, they won't see them..

She crashed out on the first gate (arm got tangled up in it and she wiped out bad) She had to be airlifted off the mountain...
 
Men's Ski Jumping Normal Hill Final was fun!

Congrats to Germany for the gold - last jumper pulled out the best jump.
 
I would hope going forward Peacock and their app would allow paying subscribers to be able to DVR so they can watch on their own time as opposed to waking up early.

As it is now when there is a sport I want to watch such as a Premier League soccer match and in this case the Olympics due to 6 hours time differences I have to not read sports sites as they usually have already reported the results

I hate watching replays when I already know the results.
