I ran into the same problem on the opening ceremony. Fortunately, I recorded the morning broadcast and was able to then record the end of the replay in the evening. But I hadn't missed much.I dvr'd the opening cermony and could zip thru parts. I thought is was ok - better than the mess in France was. The speech by the Italian olympic host was good, but the next one by the president of the Olympic committee went on and on....and on.......and on.
The Olympic flame lighting was a bust - the schedule on my dvr was listed as 3hrs for the opening ceremony and it ended when the torch left the stadium (??) and some Italian rapper started. WTF?
I had to find the actual lighting of the Olympic flame on youtube - it was just kinda meh.
I found out from my wife that we do have a subscription to Peacock (she somehow gets subscriptions 'free'), so I can watch A LOT more choices than my Wrecktum subscription.
Watching Men's freestyle skiing now.
For me, they had too much interpretive dance and bobble heads. The 100 years of the Olympics dance skit, was a bit interesting but jumped past a lot.
The athletes walking in seemed to take a lot longer than usual. In prior years didn't they have them in a continuous line with just spaces between each country? The thing this time of having a person slowly walk all the way in by themselves with the country name and then the athletes enter and walk all the way in before the next country name entered was really slow.
I also thought that in prior years the opening ceremony walk in was a bit more reserved with a hint of formality and the closing ceremony was more of a party. I know I'm an old fuddy-dud but it seemed odd having some do dance moves and strike poses on their way in, but I guess that is the TikTok world we live in.
