2500 from beyond the realms of death

I have knobs from a 2500 that I could use as templates to get a new set machined. I think there are a couple of places that will make them. If not, I can take them to my cad guy at work and he will make a drawing for them that could be sent to any machine shop.

It's interesting... For the 2385, 2500 and 2600 no one makes knobs or faceplates.
 
I spoke with a woman at the shop I bought if from several times over the last month, but the owner will not return my calls. He is an hour away but I will have to just show up there. I thought about machining them myself. Most of the knobs are typical of the later Marantz receivers, chamfered all the way around the circumference. I just finished a 2285b which has the same style. I can probably source them on eBay. It's the solid volume knob and scope knobs that are tricky. Anything made from raw material would have to be anodized. My wrorst case senerio would be to pull the plastic insert out of the same style volume knob and insert a piece of 7/8" aluminium bar stock and fab the holes. It would be identical.

Well, I had some progress today, I think. I talked to the owner who gave me the contact info of the old tech who has the knobs. Gees. Apparently the guys knows I'll be calling. I left him a message and will call again tomorrow. I hope this doesn't turn into a nightmare, or has it? :wtf:

Any luck with the knobs yet?
 
For some reason tapatalk will not work with audiokarma anymore so it's been hard to keep up. But as I write I am driving home with all of the knobs!!! I almost lost hope but the original tech who worked on it came through and found them all!
