Making a lot of progress. Everything is attached in the rear. Fan is clean and has free movement. I gave it a new gasket . So many broken and cut wires!!!

Every wire accounted for, every junction checked. It's starting to clean up finally. It looks like I'm missing the ground lug and power cord grommet. No biggie. I'm just happy this pile of wires is starting to look like something!

this is just a observation of a tech at his work ,The patience you have shown on a 45 year old monster is beyond what I have seen and experienced in the past 10 -15 years.to many people todays techs are like zenith TV techs. pull are card out put a new one in.It was a joy to see the play by play of the work being performed and all the problems figured out. there are just not enough people out there that will put the time and effort into vintage products .I am just a little reseller of mostly Marantz ,so when I see a project like this I know there is hope for most of the 60s and 70s gear .thank you for showing a lot of folks out there how its done .I know there are others with the same talent ,its just a joy to see this level of work still being done .Bravo on a project well done.

Thanks man, that really made my day. This is more of a hobby for me but I enjoy the opportunity to go to the extreme on a unit like this. I won't be able to keep it, so it needs to last another 30 years. I agree there are many good techs out there but unfortunately most of the work I get locally is from guys who bought restored units that died. Deoxit + LED upgrade does not equal restored.

Well stay tuned. Their is potential for power up tonight!

long story short. My wife and I are moving to Vermont. I don't have much family here and I want my son to grow up in a better environment. My in laws are great people and my wife's sister has an 8 month old son. I want my son to grow up in all of that. 34 years in Philadelphia is enough for me! So I have been doing this on the side to save money to get out of here. Believe me, I want to keep every receiver I get, but it just not practical... for my marriage that is

Haha, thanks. I should probably mention that my wife is from Vermont and her family lives there. My wife has been here 10 years and she is very much looking forward to going back.

Sorry guys, I had to take last night off. I have been tracing wires back on the schematic and double checking things. Despite the pictures from blhagstrom, rbuckners thread and pictures I was pm'd , there were still connectors with different color wires!

I just finished grounding everything to the chassis. I saw a chassis ground for the fan but didn't see how that was possible. But the mounting brackets are all connected internally. At first I thought they were isolated. Almost got me fan...

Also, I have a 2.2meg resistor on the negative speaker terminals hanging in the wind. Its not on the schematic and not in any pictures I can see clearly. I can only assume it goes to the to the neutral terminal. I would love confirmation on this.

I am triple checking everything. This is so tedious. I must admit my adrenaline is rushing. Im going to fire it up with the scope and amps unplugged first. Then I'll set the power supply and check some voltages. I just have one more thing to solder...
