What was the band who had the bald, little turtle-looking fella? Oh, yeah-ABC. They sucked too. Who was the band that had Tawni Kitaen doing calisthentics on the hood of the Jag ? JD, thank you for providing a solution to a problem I had. I was really stuck for an answer as to "What do I do with these absolutely pristine "Fabulous Thunderbirds" pieces of vinyl I stumbled on?" I guess if they're from the 80's and they suck, it's the outdoor fireplace for them.

You go destroying perfectly good Fab Tbird albums, and I'll show up with my brass knuckles. :boxing: :bash:

One of the best concerts I've seen was circa 1982 - the Fab. Tbirds opened up for Eric Clapton.

I also saw the Fab. Tbirds two years ago, and they could still make some music (although the lineup is different now).

I got tickets for Thomas Dolby Sunday night so you know how I feel about it. And I l Iike 80's music. Along with all kinds of stuff. Music. it's the Best!

JRV's son Tyrone plays a mean guitar as well. He was in an Austin-based band called Breedlove and has played on one or two of his dad's recordings.

And as far as the '80s went, that decade pretty much cured me of listening to the radio except for public radio and noncommercial venues in these parts.
 
the 80's seem to bring out the worst in a lot of 70's bands

Scorpions:listen to their pre-Love at First Sting stuff, it rocks ( thanks to Uli Jon Roth)
Twisted Sister:pre-Stay Hungry
Def Leppard:pre-Pyromania (although Pyromania wasn't bad)
Whitesnake: good older stuff, but along came the 80's, and :thumbsdn:
Iron Maiden: Powerslave was their last good album for a long time
Judas Priest: (Turbo Lover) what happened there :scratch2:

all good bands up until around the 80's, i think it was MTV that destroyed good rock'n'roll, and metal, of course hair bands didn't help, nor did madonna, U2, Culture Club, and so on and so on.

I prefer SRV's tone and style. I remember Clapton stating that Stevie didn't have to think about what he played, it just flowed out of him. Jimmy is a competent, albeit mediocre, blues player, but IMHO, seems to have to search and strain for his notes.:guitar:

As far as appearance, I could care less. :scratch2:

This kind of sums up this whole thread. The downfall really began with the disco **** I think. I think the eightees bands all sucked which seems to be the general opinion through this thread. I was a teen in the mid '80's and what was going on was so ridiculous I regressed to listening to the greats I was exposed to in my first decade of life. For quite a while I thought the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, And Deep Purple were all one would EVER need for listening pleasure FOR LIFE. Kind of scary isnt it? So sad youth is wasted on the young. Even today I listen to backdated stuff a whole lot and really I think the '80's are the reason why. Really there is just more great stuff to discover from the past. Especially '50s-'60s....

Nope! That sucked too...Now I never thought about SRV being from the '80's but I know that is when he did a lot of his work. Maybe late '70's. I hope so! Not the '80's. I doesent matter anyway because this thread is about eightees "ROCK" bands that "SUCKED".

Stevie Ray Vaughan was a Blues man. He wasnt really part of the cheezy rock/pop culture of the times. He just wanted to jam. He played real music. I swear I think I remember seeing him play on Saturday Night Live back when Bill Murray and the original gang casted the show. That would have to be like '77 or '78. I may be off a couple of years. Its been a while.
