Absolute BS!

I think it says more about the "victim" society we live in that the first conclusion is racism

dew.
Indeed. It's all over.
To those of you who have read or seen on the news about the Valley Swim Club incident around here, (in my township) let me ASSURE you. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU HAVE HEARD.

I'm so tired of the whole race issue it isn't even funny. Where is it written that everyone has to love everyone else. Maybe the cop doesn't particularly like black people because they used to steal his lunch money when he was a kid. Maybe the professor doesn't like white people, or cops, or white cops. Let'em sue the hell out of each other, I for one, could not care less.

Every now and then, the alarm goes off at our office and I'm on the call list so I end up driving down to the office and usually beat the cops getting there. So, when the cops show up they usually ask me for my id, even though I'm white. :D What's funny is that they just look at my dl and hand it back, not even writing anything down.

Perhaps it's because I don't argue with them or make a fuss. When they show up, I just say, "hey, how's it goin?" and they're gone in two minutes.

Murray

He doesn't know that.
True, but he obviously felt strongly enough about it that he was willing to raise a stink, challenge the officer, get arrested, and maybe go to court over it.

Like Murray above, I too have had a few encounters with police at work and in other situations and I always accommodate them with my ID, smile and a helpful attitude, but middle aged white guys don't get "profiled" for too much now either :dunno:

I'll give ya one guess.:D

I saw on the news last evening where both parties had issued a joint apology. I have little faith in the accuracy of the media these days, however, case closed if it's true. My un-educated guess is that both of them overreacted. Years ago, a dear departed boss gave me a sage nugget of wisdom. "He who loses his temper first, loses."

.....or it was an afterthought after realizing he might have been in the wrong.

A follow up to my distrust of the media, amongst other things. This is what happens when one is uninformed. To describe the police involved in this case as "stupid" was a mistake, IMO. And who are "us"?

I have to agree as Gates wasn't arrested for being there, but for disorderly conduct, which may have some legs, but it is a catch all charge. If he was disruptive maybe, but he was on his own property, but for calling the police racist is a stretch and probably inappropriate on it's own. The police though certainly could have apologized and left him though after they discovered he was at home, regardless of Gates' response. But it looks like both parties decided to prove a point and here we are...

As to "us" well, that's suitable vague, but I can see Obama meaning it in the global sense rather than the racial sense seeing as he was addressing a large crowd or reporters.
