Acoustic Sounds DSD downloads

Listening to the DSD download of Muddy Waters Folk Singer on my Oppo BDP-105 as I type this.

In my haste to share my rapture I forgot to mention that there are a bunch of titles available on the new Super-Hi Rez part of the Acoustic Sounds site. Definitely worth checking out if you're into DSD! Now back to old school hi-fi: Moondance on my 1969 PE 2020 turntable.

This is exciting news.
I have to say that, up until now, I've been wary of high rez downloads because of the inconsistent quality that I've read about.
That's not likely to be an issue with Acoustic Sounds.

I know what you mean. And while I don't have any other copies of Folk Singer to compare the DSD to, I can say that the sound is truly stunning, beating out any other hi-res digital I have, including SACD and DVD-A. The price isn't bad—$25—and it includes a color PDF of the album cover and liner notes if you want to print it out. I'm not sure that I'll always go with DSD when given the choice between it, SACD, and vinyl, but it's definitely going to be one of my preferred formats going forward.

So you can burn it onto BluRay and play it then? Or is it small enough to fit on DL DVD or something?

Well, he says he is playing DSD downloads on a Oppo BDP-105. Short of there being some input for the internal DSD DAC I imagine they have to be burned onto some sort of optical disc?

That is it - the oppo has an asynchronous USB input.

Correct. After downloading (and unzipping) the DSD file to my computer, I drag the individual songs to a folder on a USB memory stick. Then I plug that into the asynchronous USB input on my Oppo BDP-105.
