ADC 1700 Turntable..good or bad?

Got this for 100 bucks put on a Shure M97xe cart...TT in excellent condition including the dust cover...is this a keeper or what...i would like opinions please

I recommend this interesting read about the 1700. It'll help you make up your own mind regarding the titled query. BSR affiliated turntables are kinda of a charged subject in these ranks. Opinions may vary. The bottom line is you're gonna have to answer that question on your own.

Decent tonearm, a modified ALT-1. I have one of those mounted on an Lenco and it doesn’t sound like what is described in the article linked above.

Sometimes decks that use a lot of plastic can be aided by adding modeling clay.

Fact or fiction I do not know, but I had read an article that Micro Seiki was the design source for this series. Supposedly the plinth is mass loaded and the feet are shock absorber of Micro Seiki origin. I still have the non quartz locked1600 that I bought new late 70's early 80's. Coupled with a Micro Acoustics M282e it continues to be the best tracking turntable I've ever owned (not that I've ever owned high end high $ turntables). As mentioned it has a tonearm very similar to the ALT-1. I vote keep.

The Accutrac 4000 is also direct drive, though I believe it's servo locked. Not sure whether or not BSR had any help in designing it; perhaps it would've been more reliable if they'd outsourced the design to Micro Seiki..........

I had one briefly. Always liked the way it looked.played fine. My only dislike was it was too plasticty and lite. You might add some damping materiel to tone down the thump sensitivity of the plinth.
