Adding remote control to a Dynaco PAS3

Installed new motorized pot and for the first time hooked up Dynaco to a system. Sound is not that bad despite many components such as coupling caps, power supply etc were replaced in the process and need run-in. No hum in line-stage inputs. Some hum in phono stage that diminishes with turntable grounding to PAS ( where is the TT grounding on its chassis?).

Next step will be to connect back remote power transformer and test remote volume control in the real life.

Land it anywhere convenient. GordonW installed a longer screw on one corner of the input jacks on mine, threads sticking out. It has a nut holding it tight to the chassis, two washers and a second nut to make a convenient TT ground connection point.

Good idea! I'll be stuffing an Aikido line stage and PH-10 phono board in a PAS chassis.

Soldered in the remote PT. Didn't get any serious hum, although with the line input slight hum is now heard if the volume is rotated to the MAX. I believe I have some mu-metal sitting around and so try to make a Faraday cage for the new transformer.

The remote volume control works; however, each push of the remote button turns the knob up or down at relatively large angle, say 7-10 degrees. That changes sound too much so I'd like the rotation to be twice smaller, 3-5 degrees. I have had this problem with the Nakamichi preamp and was suggested to change a Zener diode in the motor controlling circuit. This did the trick so I need to find schematics for this RC module in the hope it has similar circuit.

Installed input relay module and re-wired inputs. No more "rat's nest" around the input selector, now it's "eagle nest" of shielded wires and relays! It was a lot of work.

Did many upgrades on the way, few left waiting for new parts and time. The preamp was put in the system and sounds very good!

Detailed description with pictures will be posted later.

I like the idea. I was thinking of trying this on other pieces. I see there's no room to swing that 90°.
Maybe long standing offs from the back panel. Still I like it. Is that controlled by a rotary switch or a remote?

The relays i.e. input selection is controlled by both remote and the rotary switch at the front.

Remember the Audio Research SP16 (?) preamp that you sold a year ago? I wanted to buy it and convert to remote controlled but I believe I didn't have funds back then. Your was GREAT since it was a step up from PAS and already had relays.

I sold a tubes4 hifi sp13
I might still have the AR if I had it in the first place:D
I think the SP16 has a remote
(In fact unless it sold, there's one up on BT now, no affiliation )
