Ads l810 vs Heresy ii - which one?

Both are around the same price. I will not be able to hear both before buying, nor have I heard them before.

I have McIntosh ma6100, Sansui 221 and Yamaha 410ii. From sound perspective, I lean towards high frequencies more than ultra low end. Not that I don't want low end, but IF it was a sacrifice, I would sacrifice low end. What I am looking for is crystal clear mid range. My current speakers, Klipsch 260f, RF82 ii, RP600M, Vandersteen do not give me that clear mids I am looking for. So trying the 3 ways. Later I will be going for separates, but for now this is what I am looking for. Thank you for sharing your preference.

$500 for ADS - well maintained and sounds great. Owner seems to be in audio hobby .
$450 for Heresy ii - visually needs sanding but sounds great according to owner. Owner did not seem to be in audio hobby

ADS for sure. I haven’t heard a pair of L810s but it has the same set of drivers as in my pair of ADS L1230s. The L1230s are ridiculously good. Super efficient (~94 dB/watt) and the bass is deep and tight. I suspect that the 810s would perform and sound similarly, just in a smaller box.

I drive my L1230s with a pair of Schiit Agier monoblocks. I’ve heard many very expensive speaker and amp combos and those are hard pressed to beat the ADS-Schiit combo. The L1230s outperform my pair of JBL L100t’s.

Go with the ADS. The Hersey will sound like a transistor radio in comparison.
 
Going to buck the trend. I am currently using ADS 710’s and prefer Heresy's, have been looking for some. That’s said the ADS’s are great and will stick around until I find some.

Good luck, let us know ur views when u listen to Heresy. U wanna experiment or something's lacking in 710 that's making u go for Heresy?

The Heresy is one of my favorite speakers, although I should mention I have a lot of favorite speakers lol. But I prefer the series 1 over the later iterations, no Crites "upgrades"

Had two pair, sold the raw birch and kept the oiled walnut, they're currently part of my bedroom system.

The others were in the main living rm with Dayton Audio Sub1200's from Parts Express as stands, connected in stereo preserves the Heresy sound only BIGGER now with 25hz capability, real giant killers.

if you plan on setting them on the floor I like spiking them, looks good, protects the bottom of the enclosures from getting scratched, and tightens up the bass considerably

The 710s use a pair of 7” woofers, which function equivalent to a single 10” woofer but with better dynamics. Still, the system is limited in bass extension. The 810 and my 1230 use a pair of 8” woofers which function equivalent to a single 12” woofer but again with more efficiency and better dynamics. Bass extension is much better. The Heresy has a 12” woofer and would be expected to sound better at least at low frequencies than the L710 with some material.

All that, and the Klipsch sound better to me. Asking what kind of speaker “I will like” is completely subjective… you really need to hear them.

That’s what I said. The Heresy will sound better than the ADS 710, no doubt. But the ADS 810 will no doubt sound better to most listeners than the Heresy.
 
ADS all day. I have never heard a Heresy that did not have rolled off bass. I also hate horn drivers so that makes the Heresy unlistenable to me.

Want something with a lot of bass? Try the Polk Monitor 10.
