The Monitor 10s are more of a match for the 810s and the Monitor 12s for 1230s.
Yup, for some reason Klipsch stuck with me. And you are right, I am also not so much about bass, but looking for a better clarity especially in mid range.
Oh no worries. It’s Interesting you say the mids are lacking, the mids are one of Vandersteen’s strong points , but like all vandys they put out what you give them. So it may just be the setup you have/had them paired up with.

Everyone big thanks for your inputs. I ended up buying the ADS L810 to try out another brand. The visual condition is 6.5/10 for its age and spent about $400. This by far is one of the most value $ I spent on speakers those include Klipsch, vandy, Elac, SvS, KEF near $400. Being a fan of Klipsch, I felt a bit sad? that I heard something better but happy that I gave it a go.
Bass, mid range, trebel everything in ADS seemed to have an edge compared to the speakers I owned before. I still love my Klipsch and there is one area I feel the Klipsch equal or better the ADS and that probably is listening in low volume. Somehow the Klipsch seemed more clear in low volumes. I may be partial here.
Bottomline, add me to ADS fan list. I will be thinking hard before I spend my bucks on anything else. If you have been thinking of buying ADS but were on the border, you got to take a jump.

I know right hahaha. I bought them for the mids lol. I drive them with McIntosh MA6100 so I think it's a decent setup if not awesome. I infact wrote to Richard Van.. and he pointed to the age of electronics and suggested to go for something newer. He may have a point, I haven't refreshed any electronics and these were the first lineup ages ago.

Yup, and one big difference i see is that at high volume the bass doesn't muddle like my other speakers. More tight and speakers can be positioned almost anywhere.
For flea-watt amps, Heresies are a great speaker. Very detailed and easy to drive.......they just dont have much bottom end, no matter how much power they get fed. The L810s are still pretty easy to drive @94db and the more power you feed them the better they sound. They are very comparable to my Polk Monitor 10s.
Interesting specs on those, will see if I am able to hear them somewhere. 25hz is super. I wonder how the clarity in mid range is, that's where I feel most speakers muddle.
Depends on if the caps need replacing.

Old thread , but I'd take the ADS speakers over the shreeky sounding Klipsch Heritage . When it comes to their respective class, age, and price point, ADS L810 speakers stand out as they produce a lot of bass and have nearly flawless mids and highs. Although I cherished having Klipsch speakers in the past, their horns can be annoying to listen to with certain types of music. They like to "hiss" with certain treble notes or any vocals that end with an S for example.
My particular pair , which I bought off of a 1 owner , former ADS salesman about two years ago , who owned them since 1980 also had the crossovers reworked 6 years ago as they sound spectacular. I'm running them through an 1986 Yamaha R9 receiver which was Yamaha's flagship of the time period which I scored at a thrift store for $9, the receiver is a beast but its ugly . If had a silver faceplate , a glowy tuner display and VU meters it would be a collectors item. All I need is a 1/4 turn and my ADS speakers are singing.
I also recently bypassed the tone controls on the Yamaha with a BOSE 901 SERIES VI Equalizer " which I also scored at the same thrift store for $10" . Which as crazy as it sounds dramatically improved the sound quality . My original intention was to test the BOSE EQ to sell on EBAY , but the sound results impressed me so much that I kept it. I've always played around and experimented with audio equipment but never thought I'd be running a BOSE EQ through a Yamaha but the results were quite impressive.
