just have a friend that has 1 and having problems powering it up. says when pushing the pwr. button it will light up 4 a second then go off.:scratch2:

My gut feeling? Time for a new receiver. Unless there's an obvious problem (speaker terminals or cables shorted somewhere, for example), it's time to dump this hissy little antique with the floppy bass. Mine went insane too.
Consider: The price of any pro repair would be enough to pay for something better on the used market.
