Heard about them but haven't heard them.

Part of the fun of the Indignias, is the DIY factor. You should have seen me figuring it out as this was my first build.

Wow! That's great news! These serial numbered beauties may be collector items once they become vintage! I can see it on Flea bay now: " These are the first examples of Indignia, beautifully preserved and hand made by Zilch himself." :D:D "Modified slightly by soldering the crossover and removing the Zilch nuts."

Ports for curved cab Indignias

This is the one piece I dont have on hand, what is everyone using to snake around the bracing in this cab, what pieces do I need and how long?

I believe the port length is 8" in 1.5" PVC pipe. I seem to recall Zilch using two 45 deg. 1.5" PVC "elbows" (per speaker) to avoid the bracing. One street and one regular elbow. A street elbow is a fitting with a male junction at one end and a female junction at the other. A regular elbow has female junctions at both ends.
They should be available at any large hardware store.

If you get a street and regular elbow (per speaker) you can plug the male end of one street elbow into the female end of the regular elbow and put a kink in the port tube PVC to "bend it" around the bracing. Zilch posted pics somewhere in this thread.

I kept mine straight, but I read somewhere (Zilch, I think) that the end of the duct must be at least one diameter (1-1/2") away from any inside surface or batting, etc. This bend is the only way to get the duct opening that far from the side of the cab, using the dimensions in the OP.
Also, I ended up tuning my duct to 35 Hz which IIRC came out to about 6". (a 35 Hz wavelength is about 385.8" long, then I divided by 64). The result was an improvement in the bass "smoothness" IMHO compared to 8", but before I finish Indignia #10 I want to compare #9 to it using the 8" duct and listen for the difference. Unless I'm in over my pay grade here, 8" comes in somewhere between 26-27 Hz. Is this where the 8" length came from or am I doing this all wrong?

I held the Chicago-Area Get Together at my house last Saturday. I inflicted the Indignias on all who would listen. Most if not all who heard them were impressed. I believe many will be interested in the next AK group order. I heard lots of surprise over the amount of bass they produce with many asking where the subwoofer was hidden. Descriptions I heard centered on how easy it is to listen to them and how much better they are than Best Buy Insignias.

I asked all attending to post what they thought of the Indignias on the Get Together thread (see link below). There are a few mentions of the Indignias there. Event comments begin on page 6 and continue on page 7.

BTW, the Indignias were featured on stands in the basement listening room but not pictured in any of my pics. Member/attendee CW_82 may have pics of the Indignias.

Just kidding. :D Ya line up all the bits dry and make sure everything points the way you want it to. Magic marker helps you line it back up when cementing. Primer all the joints, inside and out. Then just cement one joint at a time.

They go together much more easily with the cement on, but you do have to be quick. When the cement sets, you're done and it goes permanent in a heartbeat. That's the only tough part and as long as you prepare properly, it's no sweat.

Very nice Robie, I'll try to report back what I find once mine are up and going. I'll have Rybeam come have a listen, and in june I will again report back what everyone thinks at Jaymana's mini fest. I can hardly wait, but at least this gave me time to construct the Charge Coupled crossovers for the Econowaves.
