Akai GX-747 Channel Imbalance when monitoring source

Problem can't be SW1 or SW7 because you just said that both VU meters indicate music in play mode. So the "one play channel out" defect is after the point where VU meters read audio level.

I asked you if a channel is out when you are in record source mode and you did not answer. I can't help without getting answers.

You really should know how to do that (put deck into source mode). It is indicated in your owner's manual. You should not try to fix this deck if you have no idea how to operate it. Right?

-connect your tone generator (set to 1KHz) to LINE INPUT. Or connector you CD player output to deck line inputs
-put MONITOR SWITCH to SOURCE.
-turn both track selector switches to ON
-turn up LINE INPUT knob so that meters indicates around 0VU
-Connect your scope (dual channel) to the LINE OUTPUT jacks on the deck. You should see music or tones on both channels of your scope now. Indicate if you only see one channel working. Also you could connect the LINE OUTPUT of your deck to your amplifier and speakers to see if you have music or test tones on both speakers.

I'm going to connect a CD player to the 747 and connect it to the amplifier, then I'll see if the sound is coming out of both speakers.

Do you have a test tape and an oscilloscope? Those are needed to do repairs and calibration.

Please post in English only.

1. If you play any music tape, are both channels the same volume on your speakers and both VU meters read the same?

2. If you connect a CD player to line input and put monitor switch to SOURCE, do both speakers have the same volume and do both VU meters read the same?

Answer in English

Any music source, radio, CD, connected to input should be present at the output when you are monitoring the source.
Knowing this works eliminates about half the possible areas where problems can be.

I'm going to make a new recording with a CD player to see how the sound will come out on the headphones, I'll post the result here

In the recording I made today the sound only came out of one speaker, in the other it was low, the problem with the gx-747 continues

what about in source mode? Not off the tape. You need to know it the problem is before or after the record heads

Is the sound fine? If so you have eliminated much of the playback circuit.
The problem then points more to the record circuit. Does the unit play back both channels on prerecorded tapes?
