AKG K240 cable

I have an old set of AKG K240 that is in need of cable replacement, this is an older set with a soldered in cable. Where can I obtain a replacement?

I think you may be able to find parts from AKG. Some years back (? 5 or so) I ordered some replacement pads, tension assembly, etc. from them at a very reasonable cost.

David, how much do you with to spend? You could go the DIY using Mogami microphone cable or the sky is the limit with various companies that will re-cable headphones.

Do you know which Mogami cable would be suitable?

The reason I wanted to replace the cable is because any movement would cause static noise.
I managed to isolate the problem to where the cable enters the phones so I chopped off about a half a foot of cable,soldered it back in and good as new.

I'm redoing my Sextetts with Canare star quad cable (L-4E6S)--its braided shielding is supposed to be more flexible than Mogami's foil shielding, of the similar quality cable--with a Neutrik 3.5mm plug :thmbsp:

As it's working fine I'll leave it for now but I'm sure over time the thing will wonky again.
Looks like there's a skinnier version the L-4E5C which might a better fit?

Well, what I did is, since both cups are the same part, I removed the little stopper on the other cup and plan to run two conductors to each cup directly, rather than the whole cable to one side. :thmbsp:

This also avoids whatever wire then ran internally along the top of the headphones.

Oh OK that works, BTW the wire that runs to the other cup are those two metal bands that hold em together and look to be about 14 AWG.

So far mine are still working fine after corrective surgery
