The DAC in the Node 2i is no slouch and it holds it own against some pretty good stand alone DAC's. Some folks would say it's good enough and could save money by not buying a stand alone.
Alexa (Echo) > DAC > Receiver: Any good solutions?

I wonder how one would go about testing this theory on any device, especially an Echo Studio?

I don't know that you could. But with the Node 2i feeding Amazon Music HD into a Topping DX3 Pro the display reads 192 kHz when playing the highest Ultra content. I can usually tell it's Ultra by the sound before looking at the display but it's a little harder to tell the difference between 96 and 192 kHz.

Good article about it here. Seems like the Node 2i is one of the few devices that delivers the goods with Amazon HD.
That said, as an owner of a Node 2i and an Amazon Prime customer, seems absurd to me that Amazon severely limits (via control over the software) which devices will work with its HD music service, and how a subscriber can get the most out of their HD service. Seems like a great way for Amazon to encourage buyers to buy more Amazon gear. I don't want to have to buy a bunch of new gear just to listen to AmazonHD if I want to stream Hi Res audio. With Tidal / Qobuz / Deezer, I don't have to. I get hi res from their services w/o having to buy new gear. Therefore, while I like Amazon Prime, I'm not in any hurry to subscribe to their HD Music service.

I just received confirmation that the Denon AVR's with built in HEOS will not only stream Amazon Music HD highest resolution content but will display the album art and lyrics on the big screen. As much as I enjoy the Node 2i streaming Ultra content I'm drawn to the visuals that come with a Fire Stick. The Denon HEOS delivers both. The least expensive HEOS Denon would still be cheaper than a Node 2i.

I don't mean flaming lips sound worse than Miles Davis, I mean the Miles Davis sounds awesome compared to Miles Davis on say a car stereo (or boom box). And the flaming lips sounds worse than flaming lips on a car stereo (or boom box)PFFFF...Herbie/Davis vs Lips? Of course they sound better! Not even a contest.Then again maybe your getting old.
As a happy side note, finally got the speakers in the right place, I can tell because my dog stares at the fireplace when she likes the singer.

I’m trying to stream SiriusXM with an echo dot to my stereo. Most of the time it sounds like crap. Any suggestions, like a DAC between? Preamp maybe? Thanks to anyone who can help out here.

well echo dots out put is terrible, you need a echo link to stream the data, and I don't know if siriusXM streams in lossless format, you make consider one of the other services, like Amazon HD music, Tidal or Quobas.
If you have a vintage receiver or one with a bad dac, consider getting a schitt modi 3 or one of those Dragonfly things

You can get higher quality sound with a $25 4K Firestick's HDMI connected to an $30 HDMI extractor. The extractor's digital output is then sent to a DAC with it's analog output connected to an amp. A small monitor fed from the extractor's HDMI allows making the selections visually.

The 4K Firestick and HDMI extractor are hidden in this picture but the DAC from this combination displays 192 kHz from Amazon Music HD.

That’s what I’m talking about, thank you! Have a SiriusXM subscription, so that’s what I want to stream. Sounds great in my car and now maybe at home as well.

If an Echo Dot can stream Sirus I would hope the same would be true for a 4K Firestick.

Oh yeah, well there’s that. One of my sons might know. He’s a fireman and they’re always doing stuff to improve TV viewing at the firehouse (there for 24 hours at a pop). About a year or so ago he was going on and on about the firestick. City only lets them have basic cable and apparently after cleaning, exercising, and making food, there isn’t a whole bunch to do. Ya know, unless there’s a fire.

I know this is an old thread, but I wouldn't trust what the app is saying. You need to look at what your DAC is showing (if it is capable of showing it). Some receivers will also show you the incoming digital signal in their settings. The way I get hi res from Amazon into my DAC is with a Wiim Mini (which can also be controlled with a DOT). I tested this with a Firestick a while back and it showed 48khz as the incoming signal.
