My eyes have been itchy, it was so bad last night I covered my eyes with a cold wet towel and went to bed early. I couldn't stand keeping my eyes open any longer. They were still a little itchy this morning but cleared up and have been fine the rest of the day. This is the 3rd time the last 2 weeks.

I hate when my sinuses drain and my throat gets raw and sore.
Allergra seems to help some..

I am the Queen of Allergies. I try every OTC medication I can, use eye drops, wet washcloths to my eyes, do not go outside or open the windows. I often use Sinus Rinse as well, although that makes me feel like I am drowning. This year I told my Dr. I would come in for a prednisone shot to lessen my symptoms. I live with boxes of kleenex in my car, in nearly every room of the house. It is miserable.....
My eyes are itching a bit, but nothing like before I start my allergy shots. I got a different type of shot which is fine tuned for every specific allergen and my bodies tolerance to it. It has been miraculous. And it took more than two years of of weekly shots, sometimes a few a week as i build up.
Basically, what they are doing is fixing the bad programming in my body, and allowing it to slowly accept that it doesn't need to be effected by allergens.

My daughter suffers from it. Spring as been early ( very ) this year. Temp hitting the 75 to 80's, windy and very dry air....
A nightmare for sneezers and itchy eyers...
The poor little thing had to miss a day at school, it was so hot that they let all Windows in her class open, letting pollens seeds in.
Now it has rained quite a bit, draining that s*?t of pollen down the sewer were it belongs :yuck:

I just completed almost four years of "Immunotherapy", (German name for it) that alternated between weekly and monthly shots and amount of dosage.
At the beginning, the itching was unbearable and lasted four to five days; swollen tricept area were I had received the shot and all that....But little by little my body became used to it; I had less itching and swelling until it was like a mosquito bite, a normal one, that is.....
All I can say is that about 70% of my allergies are gone......What I get now, I can live with.....

My kid does, too. We had a couple of really scary days a couple of years ago. Her chest and stomach were just heaving in and out. I took her to a clinic, and they called it pneumonia both times, but we eventually got her into a kids allergy specialist and he said it might have been an asthma issue or an allergy thing. She has issues with dust, pollen, and pet hair. We have a children's Reactin mixture that we can give her, plus a puffer. I prefer to not turn to medication if at all possible, but that Reactin mix sure does the trick when needed.
I don't know if she is growing out of it, or if it's our knowledge about it, but she hasn't had an attack like the ones two years ago, thankfully. It scared the hell out of me.
And careful with the anti-pollen comments. It's part of what makes the world go 'round. Sorry, we just watched Bee Movie last night.

I was diagnosed with allergies when I was 3, started a regimine of allergy shots before I was 4.
But, everyone would tell me they were worse than I ever felt them to be. I might get in to a sneezing fit, but that's it. I don't have the sinuses completely closed with this feeling of death.
However, I was also on *every* medication possible from 1992 to 04. I got in to my mid 20s, I was seeing no improvement or wosening, so I stopped.
I get a stuffy nose...that's about it anymore...that's all I ever remembered getting. At least I impressed a lot of doctors being a 4 year old who had zero issues with getting a needle in the arm.
Hope those of you suffering get better.

That's like my kid! I took her for a round of testing when she was 2 1/2, and she looked right at the needle going in her arm for blood, and didn't cry.
I took her for our flu shots last fall, and she had the option of the needle or the sniffer thing. She picked the needle. The nurse looked at me with the most confused look ever, and then asked my daughter if she was going to cry. She said, "I'M NOT GOING TO CRY! I want the needle and then I want a sticker". My wife went to the same place a few hours later for her shot, and the nurses were still talking about it.:thmbsp:

I clearly remeber when I was younger, one of the nurses told me a "secret"; she told me to just let my arm hang and not tighten it up. So, she had me shake my arm and then stuck me.
It worked. From then on, even now, I give my arm a shake to loosen it up.
I was also chosen to be the one they'd train new people on.

I got up Wednesday morning and had to hold on to the wall for dear life in order to keep from falling down the stairs. I had a massive case of the spins, and it stuck with me most of the day if I moved too quickly. Felt like my ear was full of water and it was sloshing around if I moved. It was better yesterday and today I'm fine.

Seems particularly bad this Spring for some reason. I'm going into the docs for allergy testing, then some injections once we find out what's going on. They can't do the testing if I'm on allergy medication and I'm NOT going off until some of this pollen and such lets up, early June is when they have me schedule.

oh yes, the allergies have hit me tice as much this year, it feels like it is getting worse and worse every spring, my eyes burn and I cannot live without handkerchiefs at all. But I have found a little help on Schrammek.com. The cream helps me cover the irritated skin around the nose. My skin is also nourished more intensively.
