Any thoughts on these? My listening room is small, so they probably wouldn't work for me.

How small is small?
I use them in a smallish Living room, and depending on the amp I use, dictates how far away I sit,
away from the speakers. When using a low powered little Magnavox Tube amp, barely 10 watts per side
I sit 5' IFO them.
When using anything higher I sit 8-10' IFO them.
The X-overs are very available for them. all the usual places.
No doubt if you placed a wanted Ad on AK's marketplace Bartertown you could score a pair for not too much$
But if considering them there's quite the list of Items to look for. Go over to the Lancing Legacy forum for more info

Thanks for the response. I did do some reading about them and it seems like they require some pretty large cabinets.

Yes Indeed they do. But they will work in your size room.
You just need to get the horn at ear height.

So I emailed that guy a couple weeks ago asking for more pics. And he finally sent me some recently. The woofers have been reconed with aftermarket kits, and one woofer has a pretty decent tear in it. Just a heads up.

For that kind of money I’d want original cones and in good condition. Oh and crossovers too.

604’s are great drivers, and if you do come across a pair for a good deal I would highly recommend them.

My Urei 604G are in Altec 620 cabs now (model 17). But they also sounded really good in Altec 612 cabs. The 620 cabs are 9 cuft and 612 cabs are 6 cuft. So yes they are big. The 620 cabs have better bass than the 612 cabs.

I’ve also used them in a room the size of yours and they sounded great. The Altec speakers that needed a bigger room IMO are the horn loaded cabs. Like the 816, 817, and 828.

Also with the 604, factory xovers aren’t important if you can get the drivers for the right price. I use Markwarts xovers with mine and I would recommend those as well.

I also use Markwarts. They sound a little smoother and more modern.
